I don't see Haye or Valuev as major obstacles for Vitali. The fact is, there is nobody in the division (except Wlad) that is on par with Vitali. They are so superior to everyone that its almost unfair. Love em or hate em, they are the guys to beat. The WBA Circus can only be drawn out for so long before has to culminate in a unification bout. My opinion is that Don King will try to hold off until Vitali retires so he can try to protect his gravy train.
Whether you think Vitali would beat them or not isnt really the issue. He needs to fight them because they're the most saleable and competitive fights around at the moment. A huge former champion also from eastern europe and a brash former cruiserweight champion and current heavyweight champion. If he lets those two fights walk away people will question his legacy (especially the Haye fight). Nobody else out there stands a better chance of beating him. Personally I think Vitali would outpoint Valuev but age would catch up with him against the much faster Haye. Never the less, dont price yourself out of these fights Vitali. You might be a champion but you need them as much as they need you!
What these Brits forget is that Haye talked **** like he was going to behead the Klitschkos and then he backs out of fights with both, to fight the much less talented Valuev for a paper title, & he runs the whole fight! Tyson would've talked **** too but then he would've gone into the fight looking to kill the opponent. That's the difference.
The only thing interesting to me about a fight between Vitali and Valuev is that neither fighter has never been knocked down. I predict if they fight, neither will still be knocked down. As a fan this is not a fight I care to see. I want Vitali vs Haye. I hate to admit it but I would pay ppv for it (I try to discourage the practice of pay per view it's bad for broadening boxing's fan base). It's a damn shame the way boxing is structured. Who wants to see Haye vs Ruiz?....please atsch
Who else is he going to fight, my man? There is Haye and Valuev. After that, it is all guys he is taking a chance on. If he beats Solis, or Boytsov, or ovetkin, they MIGHT go on to to big things later and look like a real feather in his cap. Or, they might just dissappear, or, in the case of Solis, go down the Kirk Johnson road and eat himself into oblivion. Get Valuev and Haye in the ring, that is his safest bet.
I don't think so. I think Valuev was a curiosity, and his time is all but passed. Haye has to prove himself against lesser competition before he is anything but a big mouth talking trash. Missing either of them is not going to tarnish Vitali's legacy. The guy has the highest KO % in boxing history. That will be his legacy, not if he fought the "Young Big Mouth", because there is always one of those hanging around.
Hayer, who threw about 4 punches a round in a true stinker, earned a " decision " vs Valuev. Vitali will produce a a knockout and win every round during the process. The difference between the performances might be enough to force Haye to man up and take a title unification bout with Vitali. The reason I say might is Haye bolted from a chance to fight Vitali before to go the WBA route.
I agree with you on Hayer. He's hyped more than a Rocky Balboa movie. I disagree a bit on valuev not adding something to vitlai's legacy. Valuev has beaten a few solid guys, and lost a few close ones to solid guys, but he's never been dominated or stopped, which is exactly what Vital will do if they ever meet in the ring. The compare and contrast of performances with Valuev will separate Vitlai even further from the pack.
Vitali should offer him 3 million or 30%, beat him decisively, and put pressure on Haye this way. If everything else fails, I would mangle a bit with the TV money, like getting a signing fee payment directly to him personally, and give him his 40% of the then reduced purse.
