didnt think he was that arrogant , and i wouldnt like to see him getting knocked out i think he has great talent and is good for boxing the fw / sfw need his talent
I don't get some boxing "fans" on this forum. Boxing NEEDS this kind of talented fighters, Gamboa not only shows tremendous speed, power and ability, he brings more excitement than many of the current champions in boxing, guys like this is what the general public wants and will pay to watch.
First, why is it suddenly wrong to want a fighter knocked out? Isn't KOs what we all want to see in boxing? Why is it OK to want Gamboa to KO someone but not to want Gamboa KOd? I am sure people who say they'd like Gamboa KOed wouldn't want him to sustain any damage from it. I wanted Amir Khan KOd 'cause I thought he was getting far more than he deserved. I guess it's the same with Gamboa.
Very good point and very true. But...if he gets KTFO as soon as possible, chances are it's by some journeyman and that would mean he's not going to be part of exciting match-ups in future. I'd rather he proved himself as a top world class fighter before he got KTFO. Gamboa gets too much hype, but he is very good for boxing (still). Khan was good for boxing but the hype was getting so out of hand, alongside his ego, that he needed to get brought down to earth; he was fighting dull opposition and not getting any better, whilst being hyped as the saviour of British boxing. If Gamboa keeps on being matched against C/C+ level fighters (unlikely) who KD him, then, yeah, but if his opposition improves steadily, isn't it better if we see him undefeated in better and better fights? Wouldn't it be a shame if someone as talented as him fell by the wayside before being in really big fights? Then, by all means, let him get KTFO, and preferably by a tough, iron-chinned pressure fighter with few boxing skills and little speed!
Man, was Martinez Mexican? lol, Your bias is something else lol. Why would you want to see an up and coming fighter get ko'd, and how did he come off as an arrogant thug? The use of the word "thug" by people always makes me laugh.
Think of David Haye - being stopped didn't seem to hurt him. I remember Haye saying after the stoppage in the interview that he could have played it safe but he didn't want the crowd to boo him! Yet a couple of fights later he would praise himself as the 'new' David Haye who wouldn't repeat the old mistakes. Mind you, he talks so much **** lately I am wondering if he needs to get KOed again:rofl
true, but what if this Gamboa guy gets KTFO by a journeyman and never recovers? That would be a loss to "the sport". You could argue he might get even better, on all fronts, but it's unlikely, the way he fights. He would certainly take fewer risks or he'd just get protected for a long, long time - which would be boring too. :good
