my biggest problem with Arum is that he's ****ing old. Like 80. He can die at any moment. If i was that old, I'd want to make every big fight possible. However, nobody is in business to lose money, but if made under the right terms there should be no worries for that. Arum, though, views KP as a cash cow, which he certainly is not at this point. He's in one of boxing's weakest divisions and he won't step up and face his only real threat. This fight would do fine ratings on HBO. The longer this fight doesn't happen, the more I root for AA to smash KP if it ever does.
"Money fight?" Who could make him any serious money beside DLH? I'm still betting on Pavlik to fight either Forrest or Mora in June...
Arum forgets more about promoting everyday than you will ever know. You have the ONLY fight in the division that matters and what is left? Think about it. Being around for a while, he is more patient and knows it pays off.
very safe bet and very logical. Gotta give Mora's team a lot of credit if it happens. This guy turns down 10 fights a year, yet the first one he took, vs Forrest, he won. Yes, he lost the rematch, but he's still being offered big fights. The "money" fights for KP are vs nobodies where he gets 90% of the purse, that's how they will make their money in this weak division until he steps to the plate and faces a live body
true that hermit waiting will make it that much better it wont be long b4 some of the up and coming mid weights hit the big stage fighters like danny jacobs i know their is more but just cant think rt now how bout if pavlik ko s aa then move on to paul williams but thats about it at mid weight
I was told to "not be surprised" if it was someone else. That is far from a 'given' but the name was one of the last I would have liked to have seen also. No relevance to the division. Keep in mind this is at least 4th/5th hand information by the time I get it and post it. Arum/Pavlik took less to make the Youngstown fight, so they may "need" to catch up a little bit.
Sturm, yea, he's a joke. And while AA has a number of suspect defenses, mandatories, etc...this guy is not a Erdei or anything like him. He arrived in a weak division and can't get a big fight to save his life. I have a lot of respect for AA. But both KP and AA are too tied to their meaningless belts.
Don't tell me it's Mayorga, PLEASE! :| And neither a step up in weight to face a shot Lacy or a step down in weight to snooze it out with Spinks, NOOO :verysad ANdy Lee, after a win, would be ok with me...same as David Lopez but that wouldn't make a lot of money... :nono
okay, that's witty. The MW division is marquee. These guys are headed to 168 and soon with no turning back. From there, who knows. But you are correct, Arum/KP can make a lot of money with little risk for now. Until HBO tells them to **** off.
No. IF this comes to fruition, even more out of left field than that. atsch But like I said, I don't want to say too much because, well, I'd just be passing on a rumor. I'm sure the talks/contacts are being made, but I know the way Arum operates. Likes to play one party against another. And this fighter, not PW, has turned down the fight before, but now says he wants it. That narrows down the cast to about 5 or 6 if we go by Boo's list.
Oh ****, you're talking about the catchweight thing with Tito...I totally forgot about it. Makes him money but what is Tito thinking? Does he need money, is he broke or what?
