Just watched these two highlight vids and Buster battered a lethargic Mike with combos but an in-shape Tyson was an amazing combo puncher but which fighter was better in this department in their primes out of these two?

I think Douglas answered that question on February 11th, 1990.

Douglas beat a totally unprepared Tyson, so no, he didn't.
Tyson is the superior boxer, although Douglas was a far better boxer than people give him credit for.

No way, Mike under Rooney was one of the greatest combo punchers of all-time, Angelo Dundee said Tyson`s combo`s were amazing.

If you’re short like Tyson, you have to be able to throw good combinations, whereas if you’re 6’4 it’s not always best to throw body to head vicious combinations because then you’re giving the shorter fighter a chance to hit you, so if Tyson is better combination puncher, it doesn’t matter because Douglas has his own strengths as a tall fighter such as a good jab and uses his range well

I don't understand. Why did you make this thread, if you were just going to tell me I'm wrong? Seems like you don't wanna hear any opinions but your own.

    Unprepared?
So unprepared that he dropped 20 pounds in few weeks? So unprepared that he had sparings with so many good people and his sparing camps were filmed?
Unprepared maybe in your Tysonite brain but in reality he was well prepared but Douglas would always had his number and don't pull that long count **** here!

James Buster Douglas, Feb 11 1990, KO 10 says it all, it ended with one from Douglas, if Mikey's was better, he would have won.

Mike Tyson was in his prime for Buster Douglas.

He was a tad over 18 months removed from destroying Michael Spinks in one round. After Spinks he wiped out Frank Bruno and Carl Williams in less than six total combined rounds.

He was 2 1/4 pounds heavier for Douglas than he was for Spinks. That’s a light breakfast. He was in shape.

If he wasn’t mentally or somehow physically, despite being in very good physical condition, prepared for Douglas then that’s on him.

If he couldn’t match Buster Douglas’ output and accuracy due to somehow not being ready for a world heavyweight title defense, that to me would just prove Buster is the better combination puncher. Because to be better than others in any facet of physical activity, you have to have the willingness and discipline to prepare.

So whatever excuse you want to give Tyson, head to head, prime vs. prime, he wasn’t as good a combination puncher as James Douglas.
