Who was best: Shavers, Lyle, or Young?

It can be added that Earnie also stopped Ken Norton that outpointed Young , and Holmes stoppage over him is not legit.
However , some claim that Young deserved the nod against Ali as well .
Young outpointed Lyle and beat Foreman who stopped Lyle , Norton and Frazier , and Lyle KOd Shavers whom stopped Young once and almost repeated it again in the rematch .
What I am currently certain about is it is close and it is hard for me to be convinced either way , so I sate this explicitly here :
I currently consider them too close to choose the best man from.

 

And Lyle at least lasted the distance against Quarry which Shavers failed at.
But then Shavers lasted the distance against Ali which Lyle failed at.

 

And Lyle also had a few other fine decision and stoppage wins , just in defense of Lyle and my standpoint on the pending question

 

Young.

His resume should look like this:
W12 over Foreman
W15 over Norton (instead of L15)
W10 over Lyle
W12 over Lyle
W10 over Shavers (instead of D10)

Lyle was a big strong guy who was limited in his ability.
Shavers had a helluva a right hand but was also pretty limited.

Put it this way if for whatever reason one of the three won the title Young IMO would likely have more title defenses under his belt.

Also remember he beat Al jones, Garcia, and beat Ali by a point on my card.

Muhammad Ali gave him the supreme compliment. After their fight Muhammad said "Young reminded me of myself. So skilled..."

 

In all fairness to Lyle though,Ron fought a better version of Ali than Earnie did. At that stage of Muhammad's career,two years was a long time.

 

I find that Earnie was very INCONSISTENT.

 

Young, no bias because I've had an avatar of Jimmy for sometime and he's my 2nd fav heavyweight under Charles but over Foreman. As much as people give slack to shot Ali of the Young fight, Young made him look worse than he actually was. Think about it. He made a great performance against Shavers a year later so it wasn't like he had nothing in the tank. Many people(including I) think that Norton deserved the win against a shot Ali so how about Young? I think most of if not all of Young's success is due to the fact that his style was near impossible to figure out and even in defeat he still made his opponents look bad. Stylistically, Lyle & Shavers were made for an experienced Young so it's unfair to say Young's better if you only go by H2H. Young beat Lyle twice and was EXPERIENCED when he beat Shavers in the rematch.

 

Unfortunately, no. I've found information on it but I question whether it's biased or not.
