I need to see more of Paz to really compare.

I personally feel that the Gatti-Ward trilogy is overrated, although the first fight was indeed amazing. The 2nd fight was okay, 3rd fight was good, although both were one-sided. Gatti won about 23, 24 of the 30 rounds in the 3 fights.

I prefer the 2 Gatti-Robinson fights as I thought the action was more consistent and the competition more evenly matched.

The thing about Gatti is that the reputation of so many of his opponents got elevated by their fights with him.

Ward was a good journeyman/fringe contender.
    Ditto Robinson.

Manfredy was a contender, but recognized way more than most guys who fought at his level. Guys like Carlos Hernandez, Forbes, Cesar Soto and many others fought around those weights at the same time and weren't nearly as recognized, despite being just as good.

Patterson was out of his best weightclass. Rueles was past it.

I think Dorin was probably his best win.

    I'd say Vinny Pazienza.
    THE PAZMANIAN DEVIL.
Steroids allowed him to fight naturally bigger guys, that's all.
His comeback from the car crash is legendary.
He has a rapper named after him.

Ikon the Verbal Hologram changed his name to Vinnie Paz because he was a big boxing fan. Vinnie Pazienza was the only boxer whose name sounded similar to Ikon's birth name. I don't think he was a huge fan of Pazienza's.

There are literally HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of fighters in history better than bum ass Gatti, who aren't in the HOF.

That's one dumbass argument right there.

Donald Curry isn't in the HOF. Is Gatti a better fighter than Curry?

Curry is a HELLUVA LOT BETTER than Gatti:lol:, not to mention the boxing HOF has become so cheap and watered down, Gatti was over-rated and has no business in the HOF, HOW THE HELL HE GOT IN IS :yuck

The HOF shouldn't even be taken seriously, hell they let in Stallone who boxed in fantasy land Hollywood, and never threw one punch as a professional :-(, not to mention, all of his other garbage predictable tired ass redundant movies..

The boxing HOF should be like pro baseball, only the elite and best get in, not just average joe blow 250 hitters...

DITTO:good, Haugen had more skill than Ward, that's for damn sure..

Paz was better than Gatti in my opinion, at least Paz didn't get into the habit of blocking punches with his grill...

Gatti was as OVER-RATED as hell..

That point alone pretty much destroys any idea of HOF induction being anything to do with a fighter's ability.

Also, Curry's not even an obscure historical fighter that only historian buffs and newspaper archive fiends would know about, he fought in 1980s and was highly touted and well-known, so it's bizarre that he'd be neglected while Gatti would be hurried in.

While I agree that the validity of his induction is questionable let's try and show a little respect.

I don't agree with the last statement at all. Who here ever called him even remotely great? How exactly is he overrated? The HOF? We all know why he's there, as do the dorks that run that place. That means nothing.

Gatti as most fighters do gets underrated and overrated. Obviously he was a far lesser fighter than many non-HOFers. And some people do overrate his abilities.

But others act like he was some scrub, and I often hear (usually on the incredibly knowledgable General Forum) that he was an "overachiever". WTH? He had decent skills and pretty respectable handspeed/footspeed/athleticism. Part of the reason he struggled so much was because he spent half of his training camps drunk.

Weather or not Arturo Gatti belongs in the hall of fame isn't something I'll argue. But as for how good he was? I'd say he was a damn respectable fighter. He had incredible heart, work rate, stamina, above average skills, and a professional record that can't be labeled as padded by any means. He was a two time world champion and partook in some of the most exciting fights of his time. He was a warrior and a true boxing fan's type of fighter.
