Pac completely dominated those fights with Larios and Barrera. He had no more difficulties with them than Morales had with guys like Zaragoza, Jr. Jones, (both past their primes too) and McCullough. It doesn't make any sense to put a negative spin on his performance in those fights, but then give Morales credit for "dominating" his opponents.

Maybe, but those fights were at 126. Pac was an improved fighter in his two rematches with Morales and his subsequent fights at 130.

Im a big Calzaghe fan too but I dont think he ever reached the level of Morales at 122, the guy threw every punch in the book perfect & he did it often, he might have took pointless punches on occassion but he came back twice as hard as his opponent & thouroughly beat them except v Barrera but that was an ATG fight & MAB is an ATG fighter in his prime then so I wouldnt be too harsh on Morales for that one.

Marquez style has never changed but the improved version of Pac never did any better than the previous version that fought him 4 yrs earlier.
Im not saying he never improved some aspects of his game but he dulled his aggression down at the same time & that was one of the best & most effective things about Pac IMO (the newer Pac seems better suited at the higher weights recently tho to be fair but thats post 130 lbs)

Also... Morales had Zaragoza sorted from about rd 5 onwards & Junior Jones probably never won a rd before being stopped in 4 short rds

I didnt think Pac beat Barrera all that clearly, he did win tho.
I still think he should have did a far better job on Larios but I`ll let you have that one, Pac was never in danger of losing.

I think Pacquiao's peak is right now (around 140), I think he is much better now than he was in his 130 days, and will continue to improve over the next year or two.

Therefore of the four choices, I say Morales is the best.

    1 - Morales
    2 - Pacquiao
    3 - Barrera
    4 - Calzaghe

Four of the cream of the crop from this era :good

I agree Pacquiao`s peak is now but because he only had one fight each at 135, 140 & 147 I didnt want to put any of those weights & his 130 days were as close to the current prime Pacquiao as can get.

    Ps. nice 1st choice :D

The Pac of right now is the best of the four, his improved footwork and movement (and power, apparently) in the last year or so has seen him leap forward as a fighter. He now has a new dimension, a better defensive side to his already formidable game. After the Cotto fight, this will be widely recognized to the point of indisputable.

However, at 130 he was a great fighter but as we saw in the second Marquez fight, he could still be hit, and I agree that he hasn't properly established himself at either 135, 140 or 147 yet to merit inclusion in this poll at any of those weights.

Morales at 122 was a wonderful fighter. Although I rate Barrera a tiny bit higher p4p because he won the h2h trilogy and I think he has a tiny edge in resume, I don't think MAB was ever as good at one weight as Morales was at 122.

And Joe C is a clear fourth. The only time he really impressed me at 168 was in the second half of the Kessler fight - and we don't really know how good Kessler is, that remains to be seen. Judging Lacy on the pre-Calzaghe fight against Sheika, the Calzaghe fight itself, and his subsequent displays, the guy was not a world-class boxer. Morales, Barrera and Pacquiao have all beaten SCORES of fighters better than Lacy. Those three have proven their quality far more than the King Of The Ice Rink ever did.

I dont think Barrera has an edge on resume personally & obviously it is a personal opinion of yours about their H2H fights which I respect, none of it is really worth going into I suppose, 2 great fighters & it is close... maybe the hardest to split rivalry in history, opinions are always close to 50/50 on who is better between EM & MAB, always will be.

I agree Calzaghe is 4th, no shame there tho.

Ps. What will your opinion be if Cotto wears Pac down & stops him after a dominant performance ?
Will you drop him a few places or keep him the same or what ?
(not saying it will happen but its possible & it would be a mega blow considering what Manny is on the verge of accomplishing, many would then question the condition of DLH & Hatton knowing ESB land)

i hate it when you do a long or good post then the thread dies. It makes me angry

i agree about all of them but the JMM vs Pac 2 i had it for JMM by 2 points i think and i thought it was easy to score.

The 3rd MAB-Morales fight i had quite clearly to MAB easiest to score in the trilogy IMO

Mab-Morales 1 is an amazing fight almost as good as Basilio vs DeMarco 2
