Hard to say. Golovkin got to P4P number 1, and has atleast once deserved to beat the next P4P number 1 who went on to unfiy the division above.

But Wlad was world champ for a decade. And not like Golovkin was, Wlad was the number 1 in the world for that time.

Really tough call but my gut instinct is probably Golovkin.

GGG was far better, he had a great jab while Wald would jab and grab, no comparison.

Wlad was greater but, GGG had more potential.

In a world where the best fighters got to fight for he lineal title, Golovkin would have got it somewhere between 2012 and 2014, by very nearly killing Martinez.

He was obviously very consistent, so I don't see there being any credible threat to him, until 2017, when Canelo and Jacobs are in the argument.

My personal opinion, is that he beat Canelo conclusively in their first encounter, and that might well have been the end of the argument if he had been the champion.

Just assume that none of the above happened.

At the very least, if Golovkin had got fair scoring against Canelo, we would have been living in an era populated by two giants.

In 2022 at the age of 40, he is still beating a belt holder.

In my opinion, Golovkins career, is a massive failing of boxing politics.

GGG isn’t finished. He’s going to pester middleweight’s for a few more years as an Archie Moore like figure. He has potential! But as of now. Wlad by a bit.

Wlad by a considerable margin in my humble opinion.

How is this even a conversation? Wladmir doesn't have a lot of elite signature wins, but neither does Golovkin. Wladmir had a far longer reign, beat more ranked fighters, actually avenged a loss. Povetkin and Byrd are better than anyone Golovkin beat.

In terms of h2h, Wladmirs jab was just as awesome as Golovkins. Wlad has similar crushing power relative to their divisions. Arguably the only thing Golovkin has over Wladmir is his granite chin.

People are confusing Golovkins potential/eye test with what he's actually done. His overall resume and ability is below Wladmir.

Wlad is total joke. If he would have fought any legit heavyweight in the 50 years prior to his career he would get his butt handed to him. Could you imagine what a prime Holmes would do to this bum? Heck Dokes Weaver etc…. School him.
I would probably take Cooney over him. And Cooney is the biggest overrated heavyweight in history to me. Wlad sucked!!!!!

GGG, I was always a much bigger fan of Vitali than Wlad.

It is kinda weird, insulting and irrational. I have never really understood the ggg obsession.
