man come on. Duran was past prime in that fight and way above his weight class.
Don't make me bring up Pacquiao's first 2 losses

So when Duran was the same age that Pacquiao is now, he was desperately in need of redemption after the utter disgrace that was Leonard-Duran II. HE QUIT when the going got hardly nothing. Pacquiao came up from flyweight to beat welterweights, every single last one he's faced, dominating.. that's no less than Duran moving up from lightweight to middleweight. What about that do you people not get?

Yes, got pac two losses but he was just building his career during that stage! He wasn't yet in the boxing limelight. He hasn't even boxed outside the Philippines when he lost..It was just an undercard of a bigger fight.

Duran lost on a humiliating and devastating manner when he was already the famous "Roberto Duran". I'm not sure if you know the difference.

Pac also fought above his weight classes as a matter a fact he holds the most number of weight diviisons in boxing history.

Pacquio chew more than what he could eat can not be said to him

    cheers!

    btw,
mike tyson is one of the best heavy weights in my books!

Pacquiao was young, underfed and green and Duran was older, overfed and past prime.
Then compared who they got knocked out against ffs.

And why don't you talk about Duran when he fought at Lightweight?

Duran. He actually fought a Top5 welterweight of all time (Sugar Ray Leonard), a Top3 Jr. Middleweight of all time (Tommy Hearns) and a Top3 Middleweight of all time (Marvin Hagler). He lost almost every of those fights, though.

Pacman has fought a lot of all time greats: Morales, Barrera, Marquez, De la Hoya, Mosley. Also other fighters like Margarito, Larios, Hatton, etc. Most of them belong to some kind of ranking, but still not as high as Leonard, Hagler and Hearns.

But the difference is that Pacman has won almost all of those fights, while Duran lost almost all.

The only aspect in which Duran is clearly greater than Pacman is in longevity.

Pacquiao no doubt. Duran had a NO MAS issue...

Duran should be compared to Floyd who had a similar issue against Pac. :deal

Duran and not even close. His win over Leonard at his best is a better win over,Floyd. And Manny hasnt even beat Floyd yet. Not even worth comparing till Manny beats Floyd or Martinez.

Hell, Duran would beat Pac at LW even if his nose was full of coke.

That said, it doesn't matter, since that version of Duran would likely beat Pac as well.

    Obviously you don't get it!

Duran dominated an entire division for near on a decade & Duran ate himself into the higher divisions in his 30's & was well past his prime. Pacquiao has naturally grown in higher weight classes & that obvious to see, albeit the 147 class being the exception IMO. Pac has always been boiling down & now he dos'nt have too. You've only got to look at the fight night weights against Morales & Marquez II to tell you that. Duran started out at Bantamweight & there's no comaparison between Pac moving north & Durans weight jump as pac's has been natural & Duran's self-inflicted, Pac's just grown into the 135/140 divisions.

Durans era was the 70's & he dominated that era with an iron fist. Duran of the 80's is just an exceptional bonus, but trouncing SRL the P4P goldenboy will take some beating. Pac has never had to face the monsters that Duran took on at the higher weights thats for sure & if yer want to use weigh ratio's as any comparison i don't see Margo as an equel to the likes of Iran Barkley & Duran scalped him at 37 years of age.

I'am a full-on ******* & proud of it, but Durans domination of his era is absolutely total & has never been doubted & all challengers crushed during his reign of terror at 135. As i said there's 2 differnt set of conditions here & it's not a slight on pac, pac's done what he's had to do. But the weight jumping reasons are totally different & Duran of the 80's still will take some beating, 29/32 & 37 years of age picking up 3 legitamate world crowns as an old man well north of yer dominant weigh class. Just go to prove what a great boxer he was. This same duran jumped in with Hagler & gave him fits whilst other feinthearts hid away, Hearns broke his pinky & leonard was heard digging 4 miles below the earths crust.

AS i said "It's CLOSE!!! But in Duran's era he only ever lost a 10 rounder over weight bout early on & avenged that with 2 brutal beatdown KO's. Duran's domination cannot be surpassed!! Only Equaled!! & i for one hope pacman can, the marquez fight is going to be a really hard tough affair & we shall see.

I flew over too Vegas for the Pac/Mosley fight & watching it live was superb. But last night i watched it on disc & was shocked at how slow 7 sluggish pac was in comparison to the Cotto fight. I truly hope that this is not the start of the expected & inevitable slide for pac,
Marquez style is the perfect foil for pacquiao & this fight is a pic-em + Mayweather's ducking has been to this purpose of waiting for the signs of slippage in Pacquiao & i really hope that the Mosley fight was just a blip.
