Marquez is not ATG.. nothing he did really proved that.

Ricardo Lopez had close fights with Rosendo Alvarez. Juan Manuel Marquez had close fights with Barrera and Manny Pacquiao. Carbajal or Too Sharp would have pushed his **** in.

Lopez retired undefeated, therefore Lopez > Marquez :deal:

Lopez looked better to me but Marquez is greater.
Then again, Finito hasn't faced the level of comp that Marquez has.

Please don't go that route, it just makes you sound ignorant.

Singsurat, Torrecampo and Morales all "pushed Pac's **** in*(your term) and neither of them are considered better fighters than Lopez.

He also had close fights against a shot Casamayor before the KO, lost to Chris John, was getting lit up and hurt by Juan Diaz, knocked down by Katsidis, schooled by Bradley, lost to Norwood, had a very close fight with a near shot Barrera, etc.

Marquez is a very good fighter, but he's overrated here massively because of Pacquiao. Every shaky moment and loss is totally overlooked and not talked about at all, unlike guys like Floyd and Manny who are scrutinized to the most minute detail.

I get it, people like that he KTFO Pac and gave him a hard time, that's the only impressive thing he ever did. He's not an ATG. People are so pathetically biased and driven by emotions. Just look at his resume, who he fought and when he fought them, he's overrated as hell.

Well, down in the Classic forum they voted him #85 best ever p4p just ahead of Barrera and Morales. He fought in five weight classes, won a dozen title fights, two fight of the year honors, and was ranked in Rings annual top ten p4p rankings 9 times.

That does seem to be the methodology Lopez supporters are using. By that logic Sven Ottke is better than Bernard Hopkins.

You don't think that Morales was better than Lopez either? What kind of super overblown opinion do you have of this guy?

I'm starting to get the sense you have no idea who Ricardo Finito Lopez is. Look him up.

I've seen him. He moves a lot like Marquez, but fights guys who are much less impressive and littler than him. He's a coward who stayed in the minimum weight class his whole career (- the last 3 fights) fighting nobodies while Marquez moved up four times to fight the best competition on the planet.

Skillwise it was Finito by far. He was the prototype and it was HIM who not only Jmm, but Rafa Marquez idolized and molded their styles after. Finito used to give both bros regular whuppins despite being much smaller. Much faster, smarter, and defensive minded than both bros ever were. Finito was at the twilight and end of his career when he faced a prime, undefeated Rosendo Alvarez. But in his prime he was poetry in motion. Resume-wise of course Jmm tops him, but he was always a watered down version of Finito IMO. FYI Finito did want a fight with Chiquita Gonzalez fresh off his win over Carbajal, but Gonzalez wanted no part of Finito.

In terms of technical skills, Lopez was better than JMM but in terms of stamina, durable, and heart I think that JMM was better than Lopez.
