I have Lennox greater by a fair margin (weighing more heavily on resume). I have them much closer on the "which was better?" question, but still have Lennox slightly ahead.
Lewis has the better resume thanks to Vitali Klitschko's name on it. Wlad has the better reign as champion. Lewis could slug it out in the trenches better than Wlad. Wlad was technically better and more systematic. Lewis had a bit better chin. Wlad had a better jab. I personally feel that I have to rate Lewis ahead of Wlad because of the Vitali win. There's not much in it though despite what the fanboys have to say. I guess if Wlad had beaten AJ they'd be tied on resume, possibly. Head to head would have been very interesting. It might be as simple as coming down to who had Steward in the corner.
You are holding a fighter to one fight and in that fight he didn't panic nor did he quit, he was hit very hard, caught cold and quick but never recovered but he did keep on getting up. Are we to label imo the greatest fighter we have ever seen.in Duran a quitter because he once jacked it in? And how is Sanders little?
There was no decision only the doctors. If he hadn't stopped the fight when he did Vitali would have lost an eye that much was obvious. Lennox won TKO 6 no matter how you slice it
LOOOOOOOOL. So if Wlad was winning on size only, why then Michael Grant didn't dominated the division for even longer timespan? He was bigger than Wlad
Yep, a "little guy" who is the same height as Golota and Briggs and taller than Ruddock and Bruno. Lewis' fanboys are beyond pathetic.
See this is a very reasonable post. No “Ohh Lewis BY A MILE!” BS. And I’ve often wondered with Steward out of the equation... like Lewis from 1989 to 1994 vs Wladimir from 1999-2003. Who when still at their somewhat raw form would have got the win? Wladimir fired combos a lot more before Steward.
I've always thought that Wlad might have the edge. I like his balance and accuracy over Lewis. On the other hand, Lewis vs non-clinchy Wlad might get a chance to rough him up on the inside, and Lewis had an uppercut from hell. On the other, OTHER hand, Wlad was as fine an outside fighter as you'd see, and if he managed to keep the fight there Lewis could have difficulties. I pick Wlad, but I acknowledge there's not much in it and can see the argument for Lewis.
I’ve always been of the belief Wlad would have won that fight. I mean when did Lewis ever face somebody 6’6” 245lbs with that kind of hand speed, power, balance, foot speed, jab and intelligence? Never. And I’ll say it again... there is a reason Lewis felt the need to call up Corrie Sanders, a guy who he was an acquaintance with at best, and give Corrie an ear full of his coach Manny Stewards observations. Lewis was hoping Corrie would pull the upset and knew if he persuaded him to go kamikaze in there with his southpaw style along with his power and speed... there was a chance something could get through.
