No. But I've trained when Meldrick Taylor , Maurice Blocker and Michael Spinks were there off the top of my head.
the height of a man's fame has always fascinated me and boxers always seem to garner the most fame after a historic win. no one cares really who won the latest UFC championship. The public is vaguely aware of who the champion is. However, in boxing, big wins are followed by fame and big money as was the case with Buster Douglas who went on to command a 20 million dollar payday after his win I think the answer to this question then is Buster Douglas who fought a near perfect fight
Hard to say. With Joe, it was a very, very personal fight and one he had to win not only for himself, but for the sake of his family too. I think he must have felt so vindicated after beating Ali, who had made life miserable for him and who had never lost. I think it stung Joe that many thought that he was seen as just a pretender to the throne while the real champ was away, so beating Ali in that massive fight must have been an amazing feeling. With Buster it wasn't personal, but he beat up a guy everyone thought was invincible, and did it in style. It was a much bigger upset and totally unexpected. But there was no hype, no years and years of history between the pair of fighters, so while Douglas was the toast of the town, I'm not sure it was on the same magnitude as with Joe.
Sure do..No knowledge of Tyrell but I'm putting a bunch of Bert Coopers fights on DVD for him. My Brother in law knows him. I won't meet him til I give him the DVD's. One of the houses I lived in my neighbor was good friends with Willie the worm Monroe. Got to speak to him a few times and would run into him once in a while . He was working construction then. Super nice guy. I don't visit Harold Johnson as he just didn't have his memory anymore and would forget whi I was. That was about 5 yrs ago though. Still built like a monster though. Met and talked for a bit with Kovalev at the Gael weigh in. He was very nice. Buddy McGirt was there and we rapped for about 15 min. He was too kool to even describe.
Its hard for me to put Douglas on the same footing as Joe there because Tyson was in putty pounds condition, its just not the same as two undefeated greats who did all they could preparing for their fight.
Frazier. Although I remember well Douglas doing the rounds of the talk shows and guest appearing on WWF Wrestlemania, which im ashamed to admit I watched, as he knocked out Randy Macho Man Savage.
Don't be ashamed...it was Saturday Night's Main Event, and it took 2 right crosses to KO the Macho Man.
