Well yeah they may have better records but Kessler is still at his peak and im sure his best fights are all yet to come. 168 is a strong division, he'll go on to do well.

Kessler is awesome to watch. I think he could very well dominate the nearby divisions for years to come.

He almost pulled it off against Joe but gassed out against the perpetual motion machine that is Calzaghe.

Well you where using the Eubank qoute as evidence to Kesslers shortcomings.

To that effect your argument was that he was not as good a win because he:

    1) Can not fight off the back foot.

    2) Can not counterpunch.

    3) Is no good against fighters throwing punches from odd angles.

Now that makes no sense since he can fight off the backfoot (andrade fight), he sure as hell can counterpunch (see all of his fights, but for one in particular see the Beyer fight), he can deal with angles (Calzaghe fight).

Now if your argument is about resume or wether prime for prime Hopkins and Jones are better than Kessler I will not dispute you. Hopkins and Jones both have better resumes and would smoke Kessler prime for prime. But out of the defining fights Calzaghe had Kessler gave him the hardest fight.

In that fight Kessler even had an injured hand (if you want evidence of this there was a whole article in a Danish newspaper where Kessler had to have. Also check out the scene for boxing the article the threadstarter is reffering to journalists asked about the injury and Kessler showed them the scars from surgery).

It's arguable that Kessler gave him his toughest fight (i'm not sure if he did or didn't), Joe previously has always stated it was Eubanks. To be honest Kessler should have given him his toughest fight because out of the top fighters Joe has faced Kessler is the only one who was youthfull, and near his best.

Thinking about this more, Hopkins was sat there in the audience at the front - I think it may have been a sly dig. :D

as usual mikkel kessler is way to underrated...WATCh t he guy fight andrade,beyer,calzaghe,mundine....kessler will be the next smw king.
HOPEFULLY he will get a fight in the states so the yanks can see what kessler can do in a ring.
    he´s a good fighter,and i enjoy watching he´s fights.
and it would be GREAT if joe would give kessler a rematch.
BUT imo joe should retire undefeated, with a great record!:good :good

Well I think you should watch the fight then to be sure :D

I loved the fight simply because they where both so focused. BTW I don't think that Kessler would have won without the injury, but it would have been a toss up if he had been 100% fit.

On a side note, I remember reading Marcus Beyer saying that aside from his fight with RJJ, he never fought a better fighter than Kessler.
