A Prime Tyson vs Prime Ali debate would never end

I think Tyson could slip his jab and land a left hook.

Then again I also think Ali's footwork can negate Tyson's ofense.

Then again I also think Tyson can cut the ring off well enough, and Tyson had good body punching.

Then again I also think Tyson has less stamina than Ali.

I like mike in a lot of h2h matchups but not against Ali. prime Ali has all the tools to defeat tyson. incredible speed, incredible chin, a good jab and outside game, an most importantly.. he has tyson's kryptonite.. mental game. ali would easily get into tyson's head before the fight even started and would **** with him, hard. We all know what a distracted, unfocused tyson performs like and i think Ali would exploit that.out of all ATG HW's Ali is the one with the MOST tools to whup tyson, and i think he would.

tough question. Mike was a lot smaller with shorter arms so he at least looked faster. In his prime he probably was faster than Ali, but for a big guy, Ali was amazingly fast.

You're entitled to your opinion. And while I think Ali was a much better fighter over a longer period of time, he would have been butched by a prime Tyson. The best comparison we have is Joe Frazier, who is basically an antiquated version of Iron Mike. Smaller, weaker, didn't hit as hard, much slower and mentally, not much stronger than Mike.

Ali won about 55 percent of the rounds he fought against Joe. Style make fights....I don't see any version of Ali having a chance against a young Mike Tyson.

It is a well-known fact that Ali patterned himself after Sugar Ray Robinson. :patsch

How can it literally be the other way around if it's an opinion? Obviously, you don't know what the word literally means. :patsch

In his prime ---- no heavyweight comes close to Ali.
    Later on --- he slowed.
Maybe today --- Tyson is faster.

Joe isn't antiquated in any sense:lol:, don't be absurd. and is undeniably a mentally stronger fighter than Tyson. He fought the last few years of his career, huge wars against people like Ali and Foreman with one functioning eye. Foreman bounced him off the canvas like a basketball and he didn't give up until he was destroyed. When did we ever see Tyson persevere to a win like Frazier did to beat Ali?

On the other hand tyson was never mentally strong all the way through his fights. if he couldn't gain control of a bout in early rounds he got frustrated easily, pretty obvious from his fights against douglas and holyfield in particular. he froze up when opponents fought back aggressively. his lack of mental focus was always his mental achilles heel and it would show in a fight against ali, more so than any other fighter, believe that. maybe a mentally focused tyson still under the watchful eye of cus could beat ali, but odds are he gets dominated. eventually knocked out.

Yep. And Tunney had a very very similar style as well.

Come on man, Foreman kill himself by throwing those bombs all night long, don't tell me Ali wasnt slaping when he was on the ropes lol he did that to taunt Foreman. Foreman exhauted then came a great combination... Ali isnt the faster, stronger maybe the most intelligent but he is not the greatest in my opinion

Ali. Tyson was very fast to after a number of rounds go by like five or six and he slows down. Power shots take a lot out of you.

Definitely Tyson. The way he steps in was really fast. Not to mention that his upper body and head movement was second to none.
