Watson was brilliant in that fight. Benn was owned that night.

Calzaghe. Benn has some fantastic wins but I'd give it to Joe for his consistency.

I couldn't imagine Calazaghe crossing the pond to fight Dewitt and Barkley at the same stage as Benn did. I couldn't imagine Calzaghe fighting Gerald Mcllelan. He would have been defending that WBO title against the Mger Mckerchians of the world. Calzaghe defended his 'title' against a list average fighters where as Benn fought the best available.

Having said that JC would be favourite had it been H2H but you can't bet against a fighter like Benn.

    JC's best win is Kessler
    Benns would be against Mclellen.

Calzaghe. He became arguably the best p4p fighter in the world, or at least in the top 3. Benn got nowhere near that.

Calzaghe in his prime would of beaten Benn in his prime, and Calzaghe would of beaten Eubank in his prime too. Calzahge would beat every SMW champion in the 90's except maybe Jones and Toney.

Anyone who says Benn needs a slap.... Calzaghe was the far better boxer & the best post war Brit in any weight class.... great fighter.

Clearly Calzaghe was the better fighter, but everyone loved Benn throughout his whole career. Benn was a warrior, his wins against Berkley in the states and against Italians in Italy were superb and Calzaghe never tried anything like that (until he was the marque name) and of course the fight against McCellan, wow. I actually think a prime Eubank at SMW was the better fighter though, including Watson and Collins. Eubank is a genuibe ATG. Great era though.

Benn's career had blemishes because he took risks.

If MAN UTD played WIGAN every week then they would look spectacular.

    Benn faced Prime:

    Mcllelan
    Eubanl
    Watson
    collins
    De Witt

Joe: Kessle+ Lacy(these 2 would have only been in Dewitts class)

add in there Benns wins on US soil vs Barkley ,Henry wharton a few others...he been a far better "FIGHTER"

I would have fancied Calzaghe to get KOd by Benn, never faced a pucnher like Benn at anypoint at his career.

Kessler is a sharp shooter...Lacy is no puncher, u cant jusge a guys power over shot Robin Reid +Pemberton.

Calzaghe had truly impressive technical skills. So he probably would get the nod.I wouldn't go far as to say it wasn't close.

My best memory of him ,though, is watching him struggle live against David Starie, stinking out the undercard of the Tyson fight in Manchester .

I couldn't tell the fighters apart-let alone tell who had won. :patsch
