Hoya. He deserves that much, not too sure Ortiz makes my Top 100.

No Disprepect, do you know alot about Ortiz? He 2 time Bantamweight champion, and made 15 defences of his undisputed title.

Manual Ortiz certainly makes my top 100...and actually I just checked he is actually one spot ahead of Hoya on mine. Which is a redundant list anyway but I doubt those placements would be much different if I did it again today. If anything I probably put Ortiz a tad higher but they are close.

He is a top 5 alltime Bantam...I cant think of one division that Oscar even makes the top 10 for.

Yes, had some memorable battles with Luis Castillo (all of which he won by stoppage), but he's never really impressed me on film. Do you believe he was better than Hoya in both skill and resume, I don't. Oscar's losses get over played when it comes to his legacy.

Same goes for Manny Pacquiao but folks don't hesitate to rank him ridiculously high these days.

True...and I should add that Oscar's p4p and multi divvy work is what gives him such a high ranking..much like Manny.

Some idiots on here are just not worth paying attention to smitty...a lot of the time those are the people that have Manny in their top 10.

Amen. Oscar is seen as guy who wasn't quite good enough to beat the best, but it shouldn't take away from his accomplishments (though he had some gifts to go along with some robberies not in his favor).

Oscar ultimately lost to the best fighters of his era and never dominated a division. That sounds like a nearly man.

He beat Trinidad and Mosley, and chose to move up in weight rather than stay anchored in one division.

On the other hand, Quartey beat him when he was more or less prime.

Anyway, Ortiz is the greater fighter IMO.

Absolutely, I wasn't trying to say Oscar is a nearly man. He achieved to much. However, he didn't get the verdict in the Tito fight and the Mosley return match was quite close I thought. He got unlucky with those, and lucky with Whitaker and Sturm.

Cool. I would say that he clearly beat Trinidad and Mosley second time out, I don't think either fight was particularly difficult to score. The Whitaker fight was very close and difficult to score.

You didn't mention your opinion on the Quartey fight in your post, what did you think of that one? I felt Quartey won it fair and square.

    Co-Sign. :good

Though he made a whopping 20 title defences, not 15. Still, I agree with you.

De la Hoya isn't worthy of carrying Ortiz's jock.

De La Hoya has become criminally underated!!! The guy took on every single challenge and continously moved up in weight to fight the best.

IMO he beat Chavez and Pea (ok both were past there best but only had one defeat each when he beat them), beat Trinidad IMO, 1-1 with Mosley, beat Vargas.

I had him losing to Quartey and Sturm, but that shouldn't detract from his greatness. It's become fasionable to pick at DLH's resume in the same way it has SRL. I think it's some sort of "reverse stardom" syndrome, where people don't think their abilities are worthy of their fame and thus they decide to criticise them (see Red Rooster and SRL for more details).

On topic, I'd probably have them in the same tier on ATG level...but when I read things like "De La Hoya isn't worthy of carrying Ortiz's jock", it just shows me how underated DLH has become.

Never said De La Hoya wasn't a great fighter. He just wasn't as great as Ortiz.

When you dominate a division as long as he did, as many times as he did, you're an ATG. Period. Ortiz > De La Hoya.
