sherif younan....this was paulie's best performance since his first ndou fight.....this guy was calm and cool under pressure and seemed to say the right things at the right time.... paul schooled him badly...i had it 116-112, and even the most biased diaz fan could at most score it only a draw.... but i contribute the success of paulie's performance do to the trainer...that guy was good
Seems like a good trainer judging by Paulie performance tonight. Not too great a cornerman though. Malignaggi's trunks were falling off his ass the entire time which he never fixed, and he never told Paulie to target Diaz's cut and open up with more punches off the jab.
Yea he targets a cut that was caused by an "elbow" and loses on the cards quicker from corrupt judges.
I was. He gave lucid instruction after each round while keeping his fighters spirits high in a very hostile environment. Afterall, texas is the state that harbours the worst war criminal in american history.
Yeah, he got Paulie to stick to the gameplan while he started to come a bit unglued in the earlier-mid rounds. Then Paulie swept the next 5 rounds or so. He did a very good job in the corner tonight.
I am not even close to a diaz fan, and was actually rooting for paulie, i thought it was a close fight that i gave to diaz by a round. That being said i was very impressed with paulie tonight (last night i guess now) and yes, i noted his trainer and hope to see more of him... i was impressed. I hope paulie doesnt take the loss too hard and comes back to do some things... id like to see him fight Urango, i think he outboxes the **** out of him.
yeah let urango beat bailey, and then paulie will get the IBF strap back by beating urango, setting up for a unification with khan.....but only if the politics dont get involved
He had a very good gameplan and made sure that Paulie followed it. It seemed that they have a good relationship which is very important. Hopefully they will stick together.
anyone over Mcgirt is an improvement Mcgirt would of told Paulie "Have some water baby" and stopped the fight after the 4th
what i hate are the trainers who's end all be all answer to every problem is "you gotta throw more shots". later in tonights guerrero fight against klassen or round bout the 5th 6th guerrero looked to be getting abit gassed. anyway he had his hands too low. his workrate was terrific if a little forced. causing him to lose zip but he kept throwing. it was at that point his corner should have instructed him to tighten up the defense, get his left up. because he was getting hit with the heavier potshots from klassen. and should have told guerrero to keep throwing the combos, however to be more judicious with them because the result was two fold he was losing his zip and getting armweary, leaving his hands low and getting tagged more than he should have. so what does his corner tell him? "we need more shots" . they are very lucky to get out of there without getting knocked, much less with the decision. two more rounds and i'm sure robert would have been kissing canvas.
