Danny O'Sullivan warrants mention (14 suffered against Vic Toweel, which was the post neutral corner record, plus 11 in another fight).

I know SRR was knocked down more than most people know or want to admit.

I think we have to look at ratio of fights to knockdowns to get a solid handle on whose been down the most and I think it's Pete Rademacher. By my count - and I may be shy a couple - in 23 fights I'm seeing him down 27 times.

Ezzard Charles was down 30 times. He likely hold this dubious distinction among world champions.

Rademacher may hold the record with that ratio in the 'good or better' class of boxer, but even using the 'ratio method', it is still Grimm, overall.

    Mike Weaver 12 times
    Ken Norton 13 times
    John Ruiz 10 times
Jake Kilrain 10 times in his gloved career

...just examples pulled at random. Double-digit knockdowns is nothing unique; it doesn't put Louis 'up there' in some rarefied air.

Well I wasn't considering alphabet Champions or the real old timers. Considering the company he keeps in all time great HW status, Joe Louis is up there in the knockdown count. And my whole point is that it doesn't mean anything.

Joe Louis wasn't the greatest heavyweight of all time. He wasn't even a top 10 in reality. Just in boxing forums like this and with old time boxing experts. I can't imagine Louis lasting one round with Tyson, Foreman, Tua, Ibeabuchi, or even the sissy Klitchko brothers.

Archie Moore was knocked down over 30 times in his career so that has to be one of the most for any so called champion.
