I had it 4-4 with Jones up by a point due to the knockdown he scored in the 7th. Griffin definitely gave him more problems than any other fighter style-wise. Very good fight. How did you have it?

    Jones for me

4-4 in rounds, 76-75 for Jones, with Jones winning the 9th 10-8 before the DQ

imo Jones would've either won by KO or swept the final rounds

That would have had to put jones up two since a knockdown is 10-8.

griffin was doing well but he was actaully down on the scorecards, that is always something that people on this site tend to overlook.

Griffin was a very good fighter, he was a hard guy to fight and in his prime he was one of the best light heavies in the world. He beat Toney, he was whipp'n Michalczewski until that fishy stoppage. Doing better vs Jones then anyone had to that point. Those are seen as the best at the weight in that era. So Griffin was right there.

I don't remember. What I do remember is that Jones was starting to turn it on, and was kicking the **** out of Griffiin. Had Griffin not shamelessly pretened that he couldn't continue, he would've been stopped in the next round or two(if not that round).

4-4 which means Jones was up by a point. It was a close fight, but Jones was starting to step on the gas pedal...

Bad style matchup for Jones, even if he does win against it. I do believe it shows that against some of the top ATG's and craftier fighters, he wouldn't look as invincible, though he may still win.

Q: what was it about Griffins style that troubles Jones?

Griffin was a defence first counterpuncher, Jones is a counterpuncher. It wasnt so much that Griffin was that much trouble for Jones it was more of Jones fighting the wrong fight. But after a few rounds he changed and started going at Griffin and we know what happened after that and in the rematch.
