I make this because of the allegations of the user Stiff Jab that Pacquaio was linear world champion at Welterweight, in the 5 division title topic.

No one since Floyd retired in 2007 and Mosley beat Margarito in 2009.

Gayweather beat Bumdomir lol that means nothing..

the answer is Mosley because he beat Margarito who was top dog after beating Cotto,, which was when Gayweather conveniently retired for 2 years to avoid beasts like Marg and prime Cotto

so Mosley was too dog based on beating margarita even tho that was a flukey win because Mosley was roided up and preflight skullduggery from Nazim Richardson screwed Margarito

Some people remove the lineal title upon retirement. Others don't. Some ranked certain matchups as being for the lineal title while others didn't. There is no agreed upon definition.

Oh. But why wasn´t the Ring belt on the line?
I am surprised that Mosley was so highly ranked.

Manny never truly was the lineal champ. At least he never won the Ring belt.

How shall that work, he lost his WBO title in 2015 to Mayweather. By winning it back against Jesse Vargas (who lost to his previous victim Timmothy Bradley before)?:dunno:thinking:

No Mayweather retired in summer 2008 (just some weeks until the scheduled rematch vs. de la Hoya) and came back in September 2009.
