Who was more athletically gifted, Prime Roy Jones or Prime Pacquiao?

I can't talk to you about anything that can be linked to a Mexican fighter. You're simply incapable of looking at things like this rationally. I know Manny beat a lot of your heroes but to deny he was the smaller man at welterweight and beyond because he outweighed Barrera on fight night is utterly ridiculous.

Watching him smash up a massive Margo and other fighters bigger than him was impressive to the vast majority of boxing fans. Take it as you will.

I didn't bring up Barrera you dumbass, you did!! LOL

You were somehow implying that Barrera was the bigger fighter, I simply stated a fact that Barrera was not bigger and backed it up with evidence.

As for Margarito getting beat up by Pacquiao, yes he was larger than Pacquiao, he was also shot.. So whoopee!! A roided Pacquiao beat up a shot slow fighter whose chin had been cracked by a shot Mosley.

i give a slight edge to roy, but i consider footwork and stamina as important factors in what makes up athleticism, so i put pac a very close second. the stamina required for throwing loaded punches for 12 rds while covering as much ground as pac would cover, takes an athletic beast.
as far as athletic ability measured by how in tune your synapses run from eye to brain to muscle, roy had a comfortable edge.

Jones Jr. He had longer arms than Pacquiao, but still had faster hands. Pac's run at welterweight was somewhat padded. Fighting Floyd's leftovers, who were already old and shopworn. I give Pac Cotto, he whooped that arse.

Pac is supposed to have speed. He's a little guy. RJJ had equal if not faster speed and much bigger. Still, it's amazing with Pac short arms how he was able to control fights against the right opponents no matter their size. Pac had problems with guys who were counter punchers like JMM, Floyd and Bradley. RJJ didn't really have a weakness because of how athletically gifted he was (until his chin was cracked later in his career). RJJ wins this category.

You've misunderstood me. I wasn't implying he was smaller than MAB - who I am a big fan of btw - simply that when a grown nourished man he was in his weight class showing that he wasn't a natural welterweight.

both were similar. hand speed which made them win fights just on the hand speed, yet sometimes not real fight plan. Two great fighters.

I agree that Pacquiao isn't a WW. He is definitely a Jr. WW though, had he not bulked up so much he could be a natural LW. With that said, his best wins against elite fighters at WW were Cotto at a catchweight, and Tim Bradley who he himself is a small but bulky WW.

So how do you rate his destruction of Margo? For me he was a 130-135er who managed to easily best a number of bigger men - Cotto - catchweight or no, he had come up from 140 - Old ODLH, huge Margo, Huge Clottey, bulky Bradley, bigger Hatton - come on he beat bigger dudes than he had any natural right to.

I'm far from the biggest Pac fan and actually don't like him as a man. I've also scored most JMM fights against him too. But... the man was a phenom in his prime, a human dynamo - two whirring fists intent on destroying his opponent.

There are levels to this. Pacquiao is a legend, Margarito is an overachiever who may make it into the HoF. Beating Margarito after his brutal war with Cotto, and his utter destruction against Mosley isn't much to brag about, especially at the CW, again.

Tall, but skinny. Paul Williams, And Daniel Santos both looked huge when ge fought them.

At any rate, he was shot by the time Pacquiao got to him.
