Clearly both suffered from devastating shots causing their fights to be stopped.

I think Dirrell has set the bar high with the longevity of his "injury" he really played the charade out to the fullest and the "Dr Shaw Hi" was a master stroke. I'm doubtful Bolonti can live up to Dirrell's performance.

I believe Dirrel was genuinely hurt, concussed.
He thought he had lost by KO, whereas Bolonti not only fake the injury, but knew he was KOd. He got his paycheck without taking an L.

    end of thread.

Lucian Bute is killing himself for getting injured. This was just the sort of opponent he needed to regain his confidence. Even had Bolonti faked injury vs him.:rofl

I think that was just part of the performance.

Well actually the shot Dirrell took was a LOT harder. They're not the same thing.

Also what Abraham did was a lot dirtier than what Pascall did

Pascal didn't even want to do something dirty ... he got hit twice in the clinch and hit ONCE this coward bolonti went down from a jab to the body early in the round ( and almost broke in two from body shots ) ...

Dirrell used the "I lost the fight!" line repeatedly to make you think he was genuinely hurt. It's what Noam Chomsky calls "assuming instead of saying".

Basically, if I want you to believe that Arthur Abraham hit me really hard and hurt me, I won't say "Abraham hit me really hard and hurt me", but I'll say "I lost the fight!", a statement which assumes that I was genuinely hurt.

Of course, a quick look at Dirrell's acting performance shows that he was lucid on the canvas and realized he could chicken out of the fight.

Dirrell often pretends to slip when he's about to get hit by a big shot. He does that here, but gets punched while down. He quickly sees the chance to win the fight by DQ, and pretends to lose consciousness. But he makes a couple of mistakes. Firstly, he puts his hands up to his face to hide his terrible acting. But if you're knocked out, you should just fall over. Secondly, he gets up and keeps repeating stupid things like "Let me breathe, y'all!", a typical ploy when you're lying (giving a lot of useless information to hide the one lie).

Dirrell knew his acting was awful, and retired from the sport except for fighting a few bums for spare change. He wanted to give the fans time to forget his cowardice. He'll be back on the big stage soon.

Remember, Abraham was coming on strong and had knocked Dirrell down in the 10th round. Abraham has several late KOs on his resume. He starts slow and brings it on late.
