Calzaghe or Hopkins That one is obvious but: Holyfield or Tyson Holyfield had lost to Moorer, and had lost 2/3 fights vs Bowe, also got TKO'ed in the last Bowe fight. Tyson just came out of prison and beat Bruno up. But didnt look anything like he did in the early 90's.
I don't think either was shot. Holyfield was not paralyzed in fear like most fighters that face Tyson. Holyfield took it to him and Tyson folded. Oh, the headbutts didn't help.
Tyson was shot before prison, yes Holyfield was tough, but also he was ACTIVE. a guy who was shot going into prison for 3-4 years or a guy whose been in tough wars but has been active I believe Mike was way more wrote off look at their next fights....Holyfield beat Moorer and went on to give a good account of himself against a prime lewis twice while Tyson was getting outboxed by the likes of Botha until he found the right hand
I'm still of the opinion that Tyson never truly recovered from prison, which was really just an extension of never recovering form D'amato death and the pervasive influence of Don King. Holyfield on the other hand was a warrior, father time didn't catch up to him until 2000 and the Lennox fights took a lot out of him.
Tyson was, he ducked good competition prior to his jail time, he lost to a bum in Douglas, of course he looks worse against real fighters.
Neither was shot. tyson still young and Holy was at his chemically enhanced peak IMO. Tyson's boxing ability was on the slide tho
Tyson had wars with Ruddock but he just couldn't be bothered to train as hard as he did because his passion for the sport was gone and his life was going downhill with King & the divorce before the Douglas fight. I'm a Tyson fan and no excuses, Holy and Douglas were the better fighters on those nights but Tyson was looking better in the rematch and was angry as hell. Tyson probably had more in the tank than Holyfield physically just not mentally.
Well neither guy was shot in terms of their pure physical ability, i think actually Holyfield might have been a little more past his best in that regard, but still i vote Tyson because in the 90's he just never regained the confidence and the will to win that he had at his peak, he was mentally shot.
