Who was more overhyped, bute or khan

Khan, for believing he can even get in the ring with Mayweather

 

Khan has beaten some very solid opposition but seems to have lost his way. Bute arguably got more hype having beaten the weaker opposition and achieving less. Nothing against Bute i think he has a chance at being able to rebound but that is how it is.

 

I see a good point, let's be fair to Bute here he's only loss came to Carl Froch, who is underrated, because he is 6-2 against very good opposition. But the main point here is that Khan has a bit better W's in my opinion.

appearantly this post was overlooked cause Khan really doesn't have better wins then Bute and he's lost to lesser fighters.....so i'ma copy and paste it for the people claiming this:

Bute lost 1 fight and to Froch, a legit top fighter highly ranked by everyone who is just outside the top 10 p4p. Khan got KO'd by guys unheard of outside of hardcore boxing circles like Danny Garcia who wasn't rated by anyone here in the top 50 p4p, also Prescott and Peterson who fall into the same category but not as good as Garcia.

As far as their biggest wins:

Khan-Bute

Judah= Johnson (older champ level fighters who were past their best but still good)
Kotelnik= Bika (kotelnik gave devon a close fight, Bika gave Ward a close fight and gave hell to some of the best in the division)
Maidana= Andrade (crude sluggers with iron chins and big punches who were both hyped up to better than they were in the end)
Malignaggi= Magee (dudes who went on to become champs after the loss)
Salita= Miranda (both kinda **** to be honest, edge to Miranda here though cause at least he has a punchers chance vs anyone)

So not only are their best wins at least equal but it's clear that Khan's lost to 3 lesser fighters than Froch and not only that but he's been KO'd by 2 of them.


It's easily Khan who is the bigger hype job. Especially since he had more hype and backing than Bute since day one and was hyped as future p4p fighter since his first pro fight. Even after the Peterson loss he was being hyped as a future Mayweather opponent!!

 

Khan and it's not even close. Bute was only over-hyped on the internet by loyal Canadian fans, he was hardly mentioned as many times as Khan publicly or even in news articles.

 

Khan has been calling out Mayweather for a 4 rounder immediately after his very first professional fight.

 

Both are ace for boxing.

 

Bute didn't even got the chance to a come-back fight and his done, exposed he should retire.. WTF!?

 

Welcome to boxing, that's how it always is. You can be undefeated with a great record but when the first loss comes, you need to retire and find another job ASAP according to the simpletons of the internet.

Just watch, as soon as he fights whoever(tune-up) and wins by spectacular KO then those very same people that claimed he should hang it up and work in KFC with them will tell you the entire boxing world should prepare to duck and dodge.

 

Amir Khan without question.

In order for a fighter to be overhyped or overrated there has to be a major discrepency between their actual abilities, talent, level, etc and what there fans believe them to be.

Both were overated but apart from a suspect chin which was displayed the first time he fought Andrade, Bute had a lot going for him and was looking impressive (granted he was not fighting the top men), but it's not that much of a stretch for his fans to believe that he was p4p material.

Khan on the other hand had been exposed even before the loss to Prescott as evident by the problems a shot to **** Michael Gomez gave him and getting dropped by Willie Limmond. The signs were there the moment Khan stepped up from tomato can level to fighting domestic level opposition, and we all know what happened with Prescott. Even with Roach we started to see the same flaws emerge, the only time he looked impressive was against Kotelnik who basically stood there and let Khan hit him, Judah was kinda impressive but it's Judah so...lol

Also if you use the argument that the ref saved Bute from a ko loss to Andrade then you also have to conceed that Khan was saved by the ref against Wille Limmond (14 second count) and was getting all sorts of help v Maidana. At least Bute rematched Andrade to vindicate himself, Khan did no such thing.

Level of comp between the two is comparable, now some might disagree here due to Khan's fights being more high profile but in all fairness there is not much in the difference. Where they fought is immaterial, you can say that Bute hid away in Canada but Khan was almost always the home fighter in a sense, even in the US where he got everything in his favour; judging, refs, beyond biased commentators and the crowd were in his favour too.

So in essence we have Bute who is a classy operator with a good skillset and above average power. He looked like he would be a match for anyone at his weight with his only apparent flaw being his punch resistence, so like I stated before it was never that much of a stetch to think he could beat Froch, Ward or anyone else at supermiddle.

Then we have Khan who has spectacular speed but not much else that should have lead anyone to believe that he was elite level or near it. He has been shown time and again to be one dimensional, technically flawed, lacking in so many areas such as ring iq, power, etc and that chin :shock:, yet he was still being labelled as elite and thought to have what is needed to beat Mayweather

You could be forgiven for thinking that Bute was a special fighter before Froch beat him but to think the same for Khan after the amount of times he has been shown up, well that is just ludicrous.

 

Certainly does. Beaten by two regular world class guys. Nothing more or less. Don't get me wrong he's a world class fighter himself but people like you were saying he'd destroy a peak Rick Hatton, is a futre p4p number 1, would beat Mayweather etc. and Peterson and Garcia exposed him as being a long way short of that imo.
