who was more skilled Hopkins or Hagler?

Hopkins moving forward with his head to the floor swinging and then clutching is not mobility though. That movement forward is footwork, and it's bad footwork. Hopkins did not do this kind of thing in his prime, hence why his footwork has declined.

Like i said, i disagree Popkins, we've interpreted it differently, i understand what reductive means mate:lol:

Also, on Napoles-Hatton, my standpoint is-

Napoles is far superior in terms of skill. Napoles is the better bull

Yeah i agree on that fully, that's why i said point taken on the fights i acknowledged he'd used that poor tactic. But like i said, it's heavily outweighed.

Exactly. I can't think of a less interesting comment that could be made in this discussion. It's totally reductive of Hagler's skills, it's as if the guy hasn't even seen prime Hagler fight, because if he had there's no way he could be so definitive and dismissive in what is such an interesting and evenly matched debate. It was the comment of a General Forum noob who had started watching boxing in the 2000s. JMO.

 Yes, I should have thought of a better example, but that was the one I came up with on the hop.

:D I get that when you've seen the word bull you've not taken it as a compliment for Hagler, but someone like Duran or Basilio could be called a great bull, and they were supremely skilled. It's just all in the interpretation i guess.

I think most regular classic posters no of Hagler of the Briscoe fight as well so i don't think it's much of an issue mate.

It's been an issue 80% of the time I've talked to someone about Hagler.
"Hagler was da bestest brawler but he wasn't skilled like blah blah blah wonk wonk!" :fire:fire:fire:fire and I choke and I choke and I choke them!

I'd go with Hagler on this one. When I want to watch low blows, holding, head butts, and rabbit punches I just put round 5 of Mayweather-Castillo II on repeat.

Hagler was far more skilled. Bernard was far more mature and stronger emotionally ...

Popkins if you are gunna call someone out for implying something that you take as disrespectful, then be consistent and do the same with this

If it's disrespectful to state Hopkins is far better than Hagler technically but Hagler is a better than bull, then surely this post i've quoted is as well, no?
