Who was more talented Roy Jones or James Toney

rjj's prime was not then i thought...just my opinion

edit to note that it may have been but i always remember thinking in fights post-toney that he became even more untouchable...could be wrong...but don't shoot your load across the room over it

 

I love both fighters - Toney is a better boxer technically, the way he slips the punches and fights on the inside is amazing.

But in terms of talent you've got to give it to Roy. I can't think of many that can match his natural talent.

It is obvious that you did not even watch the fight. Toney was weight drained, out of shape.

Anyway, RJ is the more gifted athlet (speed and reflexes etc.)

Toney has the more subtle boxing skills.

 

I would've loved to have seen a Jones-Toney fight after Toney had won the crusierweight tile and Jones won the heavyweight title. They could've fought at the 190 or 200 pound weight limit (whatever the cruiserweight limit was then) and Toney could've put his cruiserweight title on the line and Jones could've put his heavyweight title on the line. Instead Jones stupidly went down to the lightweight class.
