Agreed. Prime example is today. When RJJ's physical gifts left him, he had nothing to compensate with in losses to Tarver, Johnson, and Tarver again.

Meanwhile Hopkins has his physical gifts leave him, and he compensates by grinding out technical decisions, albeit with dirty tactics at times, but if that's not using some semblance of technical brilliance, then what is?

yeah Hopkins is a tactical master, he is a true champion in that he will always find a way to win, even if it doesnt necesserily look good. **** he figured out the puzzle that is winky wright, that takes genius.

Jones was always the better athelete. Faster hands, faster reflexes, incredible skill, but not as smart as the executioner.

you must have seen about 4.5 boxers in your life then!? you will see a true technician when joe comes across the waters and smacks him up **** creek! if the poll was for 'whos the biggest mouthed racial idiot' then hopkins all the way, but it wasn't! Kessler could have hopkins any night, and apparently kessler is out of B-pops league, the blokes a big mouthed nob.

People underrate Jones's technical ability. He is a true student of the game. He can boxing very well 'technically'. In some cases a mans physical gifts allow him the ability to shortcut rules. Jones didnt appear to be very technical, because he was gifted enough to do it his own way. Hopkins had to find greatness by perfecting the skills of the sport. Jones was handed greatness by being born into a freakishly athletic body. Make no mistake though, if Jones had to employ a more technical game plan....he could've.

So Hopkins is more technical. But its only because he had to be.

Roy wasn't technical at all. He became dependent on his superior reflexes, and fell into all kinds of bad habits, head up, hands down. Benard developed his awesome skills over time. Now , Roy has diminished reflexes with little skill to fall back on . Benard, like Archie Moore , gets more resourceful as his resources diminish.
