Ar one stage, Lederman said this was not the ame Malignaggi he's seen in the past, and Merchant countered by saying it was the same Maligaggi, but he facing another tough oponent>> as if he could only do it to standard fighters. I myself noticed Paulie rarely threw the right, so I thought he may have injured his hand again..any thoughts??.........:think:think:think:think:think:think:think
Personally, I thought Malignaggi didn't look anywhere NEAR as good as he had against Cotto. He has not shown any signs of decline, so I don't think the case can be made that that's the cause. Either Hatton is WAY superior to Cotto or he simply has the perfect style to neutralize Paulie. Either way, impressive victory for Hatton, imo.
Same Paul but he ran into a man that was better than the contenders he fought. HBO let Paul have it yesterday giving his promoters more props than him.
Lederman is out of it, again. More than anything else people need to understand something; Hatton was A HORRIBLE STYLE MATCHUP for Malignaggi. Watch any Malignaggi fight. He does nothing to keep an advancing foe off. He'll keep his right hand tucked to his chest, and limit himself to the jab/bending at the waist, ect. Planted to the ground. Malignaggi is perpetually one handed when an opponent collapses on him. He panics when an opponent collapses on him.
I tend to think there was something wrong with Paulie, off night at any rate. He didn't do anything, he didn't box, he didn't throw punches, he didn't move very well. I don't really want to take anything away from Hatton though. Paulie seemed off and Hatton was on, I'll leave it at that.
If Paulie hurt his hand he would've said something. After the 2nd, he was never mentally into the fight. Never seen that from Paulie before. Must've been Hatton who caused it.
i also thought Paulie must've hurt his hand... that's the only reason i think they would've pulled him out. He won't say anything about it straight after the fight....as it wouldn't have look good for him (made him look like a sore loser), the crowd (who paid good money for a supposed 50/50 fight), the promoting companies, the TV people (HBO, Sky) and those viewers at home.... I'm sure in due course we will here how Paulie damaged his hands in the first round
hatton is quicker and more powerful/explosive than given credit for!!!!!!! but hatton is shorter/short reach would still have trouble with mayweather
I have to agree with Merchant on this one. It's difficult to access because styles make fights, but Paulie stepped up in class against Cotto and then against a more established 140 fighter in Hatton. He has been beaten decisively in both fights, which makes it difficult to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.
well paulie looked real good in the first and 1/2 the second, then he get hit with a very heavy punch from hatton... hatton adjusted and fought a very good fight, the best he has fought since kostya, so paulie couldnt do anything... hatton wore him down and was landing crushing body shots left hooks and straight rights.....
