Hopkins was dwarfed last night by the much bigger Kovalev it was very noticable, it looked like a middleweight verses a light heavy.

Height alone is not a true indication of size, Tyson was 5'11" is he smaller than Hopkins?

Kovalev had a clear weight advantage, he weighted 185lbs the next morning, which is probably higher than Hopkins has ever weighted and Kovalev probably weighted even more by the time of the fight.

You obviously miss the second part of my line...'an inch taller with a bigger frame.'

And the weight at fightnight is a personal choice. Kovalev has been 183 before so it is not like he is 188 in every fight.

    Both looked like light heavyweights.

Kovalev had other advantages last night - speed, legs, generalship, will, etc. He was simply the better not the bigger fighter.

I'm not sure I'd call it a schooling. Bernard has forgotten more about boxing than Kovalev will ever know. But, Hopkins was way too negative last night, and I picked Hopkins. I think the way Kovalev caught him coming in on that first KD, made Bernard keep his hands at home and his feet under him. And it was a fairly effortless punching that was perfectly timed. Hopkins realized he was in with a better fighter than Pavlik.

A prime Hopkins does much better and probably wins. But, a 50 year old version will lose 10 out of 10 times against Kovalev. Stevenson beats him too, I think. Same scary power, and just as good or a better boxer than Kovalev. Hopkins should have realized his limitations after last night and should not take a Stevenson fight...at least not for legacy. He's had an amazing run and the fans salute him...but, show's over.

    Absolutely:good

'Schooled' is a wrong word here. Hopkins even at 50 has an ATG chin, great defence and high ring IQ, but his speed and power are completely gone. 'Schooling' is when less gifted physically fighter dominates more gifted (faster, bigger, younger, better puncher) only because of better skills.

Did Sam Peter school Toney in the 2nd fight? He won 119-108.

A schooling is when you come in for a lesson. This was a pure and simple vicious physical and psychological assault. Like getting jumped by 5 guys in the street. Was no school about it. Hold on for your life and avoid the hospital is all it was.

I am not sure who was taken to school last night, but I am sure Hopkins was taken to a hopsital for medical tests.

Bernard is actually taller and has a longer reach. Fight day weights gave Sergei a 6 pound advantage.

For some, this was a fight Sergei could not win. If he loses, he was a hype job. If he wins (despite Bernard holding a belt), he merely beat a smaller, grandpa.

Kovalev clearly had the bigger frame, his back and shoulder were clearly wider. Hopkins has been calling out middleweights how is that a sign of being a natural light heavy. Hopkins is a natural super middle at best now as he's lost muscle mass in recent years due to his age.

I didn't say Kovalev wasn't the better fighter because Kovalev clearly out boxed the boxer here. But to suggest Hopkins a guy who started at middleweight and had to hire Mackie Shilstone to bulk him up to light heavy is as big as Kovalev is a stretch when Kovalev weighted significantly more and looked far bigger.

"The HBO crew and media who picked Hopinks?"

Who the heck is Ho pinks? lol

Adonis Stevenson was taken to school. Those two guys showed him how to put on an interesting and meaningful fight!

I am afraid that I cannot agree with such a statement.

Hopkins is listed as an inch taller and at every press conference and face off he looked taller. And he is for a fact.

Kovalev is a small light heavyweight. He doesn't add much weight after weigh-ins. Everyone can check that out. But it is not about the weight but the frame. Weight at the fightnight is a personal choice.

You clearly need glasses then. The photo of the face off below clearly shows they are very close in height. Hopkins height always gets rounded up. Back in the 90's his height was always quoted as 6 feet and a half or three quarter inches, they just don't do fractions now and round up.

They look the same size. Seriously, there isn't much to separate them size-wise, certainly not a significant advantage either way. I constantly hear how old timey heavies who weighed 195 would take todays 240 pounders to schoolÂ… and now it seems people want argue over a couple pounds on fight day in a light heavy contestÂ… Tho not bigger, Kovalev is ox-strong and fluid, two physical attributes which separated him from Hopkins last night.

If a fighter isn't throwing punches back ,anyone on this board can win that fight .BHOP didn't listen to his corner ,abandon the jab which got him to where he is today. Kovalev wasn't better ,anybody could had beaten Hopkin last night.

The knockdown made Hop tentative all night and he will remember that punch
as he folded like deck of cards
I'm glad he didn't suffer any damage though
Did he go to the hospital?
