Nope! His defense only limited inside the ring.

The award should goes to floyd mayweather jr..both iniside and outside the ring...choosing an opponent is one of the greatest defense of all time:good

He has a case for being the highest rated defensive fighter of all time, but the fighter with the best defense was Nico Locche. Watching that guy box was creepy.

Floyd is amazing. Whitaker is legendary. Benitez was right up there at his best.

Supposedly Willie Pep was the defensive genius of all times. A young Ali would have to be up there, Pea, PBF...

Sweet Pea gets my vote, but there are many others like Benitez.

Floyd Mayweather easy....just look at his opponents connect percentage when they fight. It is always significantly lower than Mayweather's. Mayweather has never been knocked down or knocked out or really anything close to being knocked down.

    Marquez 12%
    Hatton 17%
    De La Hoya 21%
    Baldomir 12%
    Judah 18%
    Mitchell 11%
    Gatti 17%
    Brusseles 24%

Ali had a really sloppy guard, often he left his hands low, he would also make a lot of amateur mistakes like leaning back to avoid punches. Sure, he was able to compensate through his natural athleticism, but don't be fooled by the hype, he had some serious technical flaws.

Don't get me wrong, Ali was great, I just don't think he deserves to mentioned with the best when it comes to Defense...

the are fighters who land very high percentages vs their opposition. The fact that all of these fighters out threw him by a hundred punches on these fights an d they landed at an avg of 30% less...that says alot...especially if hes never been hurt or down in a fight...
