Journeyman Jeff Wooden gave Tua a very similar tough fight around the same time, it just went 10 rounds and the judges saw it Tua's favor. I think people read too much into Ike's ability based off the Tua fight and the highlights it produced. Ike threw an impressive amount of punches, but oddly Rahman did too against the Tuaman, its just his shell style caused many fighters he faced to have inflated jab and punch stats.

Now the Byrd win was very impressive, though Byrd was also doing way too much clowning, he did make Ike look foolish and rightfully won three of the first four rounds before ducking right into that uppercut and nearly getting his neck broke. Ugly angle on that, set up by a combo Ike was throwing the entire fight over and over. .

I think Ike would have lost to Holyfield or Lewis, but he did briefly establish himself as their leading contender. So who knows.

How impressive would Samuel Peter have looked if he retired after the second Toney fight? He was drawing comparisions to Ike because of the durability and power he showed and what not. Or what if Coetzee got arrested after destroying Leon Spinks in the first round and never fought again?

As is, Sanders has the best win of the bunch even if he caught pre-Steward Wlad.

While Coetzee had the most sustained success of the bunch.

Not only did Sanders destroyed Wladimir Klitschko better than every1 else did , he also outdid him by far vs Ross Puritty , outpointing Puritty over 12 .
So Sanders clearly has 2 rank higher than Wladimir on all time h2h lists .
There is nothing 2 take away from Sanders' and Puritty's per4mances against each other and WK .
However some ppl sort their lists bay de saiz of de nowz , sam bay de smutnes / shaveness of D.S. end sam bay dairect ***ual erauznes so I M not risponsibol 2 deir lists .

    Exactly.

Jeff Wooden took those same sporadic power shots from Tua, and he wasn't exactly invincible. Ike guarded that predictable left hook most of the fight anyway and kept little Tua in his shell by throwing constant jabs and body shots at him. We don't know what would happen if he tried to walk down the taller and longer Coetzee and ended up eating one of those murderous right hands.

Gotta ride with the Prez on this tour of the Dark Continent. What an animal that cat was, just a ravenous carnivore.

Funny, I surely thought that I'd see Ike listed in the poll....

Wow, that statement is really loaded with Colonial speak.

I don't think Ike could handle this fistic magnificence that was Mike Schutte.

    Coetzee is the most accomplished.
Ike might have been better, but who knows.

I do not think Ike was better, he might of got to Coetzee first in a one off fight, but overall I take Coetzee's bionic right and more importantly better boxing skills to have the edge in a mythical 10 fight series.
