One of the hardest things to do in boxing is to be the slower fighter, and time a much faster fighter catching him in-between blows or on counters. Who was among the best at doing this?
Hopkins is the only man to do this against Calzaghe, in terms of fighting at a slower PACE that is. Hopkins is not slow of hand.
Did Monzon ever fight a much faster fighter? I am looking for a match where the men were the same size, but the speed difference was noticeable. Hopkins could not handle Roy Jones speed.
Tarver was able to time Roy Jones, and Jones was noticeably faster. Forrest was able to time Mosley, and Mosley had faster hands as well.
In my judgment, you can time a much faster fighter. You have to throw after the second punch ( in most cases the power shot ), and maintain focus even if you are being hit. This is not easy to do.
Still, he is the only man that has dictated the pace against Calzaghe. I gotta go now, have fun knowing im right Mendoza! Later, (kidding there!)
YEs but Jones was done and had a hands down defense. Mosley was smaller/shorter with an open defense too
