Hopkins has always been amazing off the ropes. Watch a Hopkins highlight. You're bound to see something beautiful happen.

    Right now....it's Mayweather.

Nobody in boxing today fights off the ropes better than Floyd.

A fighter who can fight effectively off the ropes is beautiful to watch. One of my favorite things to see in the sport. James Toney was a master. Ali, SRL and PBF are all great as well.

Julio Cesar Chavez was amazing off the ropes. Then again, JCC could fight in a damn phone booth if he needed too.

You guys hit most of the greats, but an off the wall one, who was only good for a few years.. but during his prime before he spiraled out of control downhill, Kassim Ouma used to be great lying on the ropes.

    Toney v Jirov round 12.

    Hopkins v Trinidad round 10.

Two big fights, two top-class opponents coming forward aggressively, only to be met by two ice-cool inch-perfect 3-minute masterclasses off the ropes.

    Sublime.

i never talk about active fighters unless i'm getting paid for the tips. so disregarding current fighters, the one to point out is ofcourse ali.
like so many things, ali stole his ropeadope technique from sugarrayrobinson. it was ali however who transformed it from technique to artform. i wouldn't exactly describe it as "biding his time" on the ropes though. ali while on the ropes would pepper shots to his opponents face intermittently if not constantly throughout the rounds. biding his time sounds like he didn't throw a shot untill the 8th.
