colin jones was a damn good fighter really well polished and schooled he'd have held his own against any welterweight of the last 10 years

Only 26 when he retired, not even in his prime. Jones was one of the few British fighters I have ever seen who had true one punch KO power

Any opinions on Johnny Owen in this?

Great little fighter. He gave Pintor all he could handle. We probably didn't even see him at his peak.

Is Brodie not in the picture attall he would have given anyone a fight at his very best, but his very best was not for long as to many wars caught up with him, people go on about the In jin chi fights but for me he was past his best then and I don't think he recovered mentally from the Jorrin robbery

Really hard to see past Graham but Tony Sibson would be a shout.

Just because some of the more 'obvious' ones have been mentioned I'll throw in Pat Cowdell, he took the great Salvador Sanchez to a close 15 rounds points decision in the champs back yard.

(He also got flattened in 1 round by Azumah Nelson towards the end of his career when his was offered at title shot at 126 after he had moved to 130 a couple of years earlier)

    Rudkin.

Any other era and he holds a title (possibly even in the Zarate/Zamora/Pintor era) He probably unifies today.

The Bomber Graham for me - came so close against the bodysnatcher that nite .... damn shame and good bloke too ! ...used to take bets you couldnt land a punch on him when he had his hands tied behind his back ... he never lost !
