All respect, but this is an unfortunately common error among boxing fans. It was all about money, period. Bowe, through Newman, harshly belittled Lewis by giving him a ridiculously small take in a projected fight after Bowe won the title. Lewis rightfully meh-ed the offer, and Bowe took offense and made the dumb mistake of throwing the baby out with the bathwater. It's important to know also that Bowe DID offer Lewis a massively big payday after the former knocked the crap out of Holyfield and Lewis turned it down. So who was the chicken? Neither. Bowe was ready to fight Lewis right after soundly beating Holy (the first fight), even after 12 rounds of one of the toughest bouts in boxing. Watch the postfight, there is no fear in Bowe's eyes as he calls Lewis out, right to his face. No fear. Finally, even the ring announcer thought the referee in the Olympic Bowe-Lewis fight stopped it WAY too early. Bowe never went down and was both dancing on his feet and waving his hands in the air when the fight was stopped. That was about as inconclusive a fight as there ever has been, Bowe swept the first round. He took two great shots and looked fine to me (watch the video again, please). This content is protected
