A rock - paper -sissors problem. The following three fought each other multiple times - Alfredo Evangelista (Puncher) usually when Rodriguez charges into him he's ko'ed for his efforts Zanon boxes circles around him to a ud - Lucien Rodriguez (Swarmer) walks down Zanon 1/2 the time to win a dec walks into Bombs from Evangelista more often than not - Lorenzo Zanon (Boxer) boxes his way around Evangelista gets walked down by the agressive Rodrigues And then there is - Steffen Tangstad (Boxer) Catches Evangelista and Rodriguez toward the end of their careers and wins on points, like Zanon did to them only worse since they are shopworn at that point. Has the best looking record on paper - but only on paper... He has the fewest fights and the most backyard low level padding. Starched by Spinks is understandable, by Eklund also in 4 - not so much... Overall body of work - Evangelista's 61(41)-13(4)-4 is more impressive than the rest to me and he has the only "name" win of the bunch over Renaldo Snipes...
It's a really interesting question but it hurts my head to contemplate, I think I've only seen them all in losing efforts (might be wrong) but what a random bunch of fringe contenders to be thinking about Yeah, Evangelista might well have been the best.
I would have to give the edge to Evangelista based on him going the 15 round distance with Ali and getting another title shot vs HOlmes a year or two later
I saw this before but I had nothing too valuable to contribute. If I gave them all a letter grade with a +/- sign, they'd probably all be a C+ or B-, for the broad spectrum of fighters good enough to be "name" fighters, I mean. That's the best I can do. Not as random as you think. :yep
