Lol how ? Are you one of those old school fans who think Marciano would beat Lewis ? ? 6'5 245 pounds, a true super heavy weight, ruled the 90s and beat every man he fought. He didn't fight a prime holyfield or a prime Tyson but thats not his fault. In my book he's 3rd just behind Peak Ali and Peak Holmes
Lewis's reign was from 1999-2003. Prior to that he wasn't the "king of the division" it was Tyson, Holyfield and Bowe. But as for being outside the Top 8? I can't agree with that.
Technically you can blame him for remaining in the amateurs for another 4 years to pursue his gold medal while Tyson, Ruddock, Bowe, and Holyfield were all beating the crap out of each other in the early 90's. He was fresh as a daisy by the time he was a rookie pro while they had 30+ fights + long amateur careers. Lewis' career may have been totally different had he turned pro when they did. When he finally fought Tyson and Holyfield he was at his peak as a fighter with a legendary trainer in his corner--their ages are deceiving. Complete nonsense. Lennox is top 8 for both h2h and legacy. Let's see your list so I can tear it to shreds.
He reigned really on and off from 92 to 99,then as undisputed. And imo if he'd faced Holyfield, Bowe or Tyson after suffering his first loss he'd have still beat em. I rate Lennox very highly.
Bowe was only king of the division while he was undisputed champ, he lost that by losing to Holy who then became king of the division but then he slipped in a lackluster fight with Moorer however Moorer was never king of the division and Tyson was only king of the division during the 80`s, I feel Lewis could have beaten any vdersion of Tyson in the 90`s, Holy toyed with Mike twice.
In a H2H sense in no real order. Ali George Foreman Larry Holmes Mike Tyson Evander Holyfield Joe Louis Riddick Bowe Sonny Liston
Based on what the best fighters he beat were shot and the fighters in there prime he actually beat was Shannon Briggs or Grant or you can call it Vitali? If you want to count that as an actual win. Plenty more with deeper resumes at HW.
I just don’t see why people see so much in Lewis, he really didn’t beat anyone special bar Vitali who would go on to truth be told beat no one significant and showed he was less then the worst version of Lennox. He would be the toughest if he wouldn’t potentially crumble into shards of glass.
Honestly , overall I think he is superior to Lewis he would be the hardest fighter for a lot of the best. Lewis just has such a glaring Achilles heel the H2H goat isn’t poleaxe by Rockman.
