This vid shows how outside boxing is effective against come forwad fighters, Ali v Liston, Floyd v Guerro and Duran v Leonard 2 which of these winning outside performances was the best and which of these fighters generally had the better outside skills? Cotto is also featured and can be added too.

I started this thread because I saw this vid on my homepage after watching 3 rounds of Graham v McCallum and noticed how clumsy Graham was when compared with theses more skilled and savvy fighters in my opinion.

To be honest this question is tough since these fighters have vastly different styles...
I guess RAy Leanord emulated Clay's style, so they are somewhat compatible, but I don't really consider Mayweather as an 'outside' fighter...
Although if anything, Mayweather did emulate Clay's rope-a-dope tactic late in his career against Canelo, Cotto and Pacquiao..
Of the 3 fighters, id say Mayweather has the most refined and most efficient style...however Mayweather s offensive prowess takes a back seat to both Clay and Leanord.
Also, and I'm.sure I'll get banned from this forum again for suggesting as much, but I would have to say that Mayweather takes far fewer punches than either Clay or Leanord, but not only that, he takes a better punch as well .
I wouldn't say it's fair to include Mayweather in the style comparison, but between Clay and Leanord I will say Clay was the more effective outside fighter...however Leanord may have faced the better, more mobile competition

I see you're still using the 'Clay'' **** in a thread about Mayweather, Ali and Leonard,

Mayweather is usually excellent when he does fight on the outside but he's not an outside fighter

Ali took punches off Foreman and Shavers! Mayweather has never been hit with hook like the one Ali was hit with in the 15th by Frazier, also Floyd never took the punishment Ali took in Manilla or the blows Ray took from Duran in Montreal.

Rosario and Chavez cut the ring off easily v Camacho, he had to run v Edwin and Griffin pinned Roy to the ropes and outscored him there in their first fight, Roy did better v Griffin on the front foot using hooks on the inside which was a better punch for him than the jab which is an outside punch.

Mayweather never fought that level of competition either. If Ali's best competition was on the same level as Mayweather's Ali probably don't develop Parkinson's and doesn't lose until he was close to 40. Same with Leonard, Robinson, etc.
