Who was the best outside boxer, Mayweather, Ali or Leonard?

    He certainly wouldn`t have got Parkin`s with Mayweather`s type of opposition, because scars were found on his brain after the Shavers fight and none of Floyd`s opponents could inflict anything like that kind of damage P4P but Ali was starting to fade badly by the second half of the 70`s and was nowhere near Floyd`s level when he was 35, neither was Ray, against Norris and Camacho he was completely shot, he wasn`t at Floyd`s level at any stage after the Hagler and even in that fight he wasn`t as good as Floyd was in his early thirties.

    Probably Leonard I would say. Then Ali and then Floyd.

    Hearns outboxed Ray on the outside and Ray had to get in the pocket to finish Tommy, Hearns said if he could have faced a fighter like Floyd in his prime he would have tried to keep him on the outside also, with his long jab.

    Tommy could have also. What is funny about Hearns is if he hurt his right hand it would be almost better for him with a guy like Wilfred or Floyd. Then he would be content to win a boring decision. rather than take chances. He could have beaten anyone just sitting back and jabbing.

    Tommy Hearns. Mayweather takes a back seat, he is an accurate puncher but does nit throw combinations.

    Combine lack of great competition and modern supplements and diet ,and great talent (and make no mistake Mayweather Jr. was extremely talented, but what extremely talented opponent did he face at the peak of their careers?) and great discipline. That easily adds up to a very long successful career . But the caveat with Mayweather Jr. is always who did he fight? And when did he fight them.

    Comparing his competition to li`s and RAy`s is unfair, their competition was rare to find is most elite fighters careers, but Floyd could still fight great on the outside, but no he was never tested on the outside by someone on Tommy`s level and length.
