I remember Chic Calderwood when I was a kid.Very skilled, tough, could punch. He beat some world class men,but was a bit erratic and lost to some also.Late in his career lost,I think on a cut,to Cowboy McCormack, who also beat Henry Hank,George Benton,Terry Downes on DQ,amongst others. Some resume,so I suppose if Chic is in the running,so is he.

Agreed, and using roughly the same argument Nathan Cleverly is the best Welshman.

Alex would stop John in less than 3 rounds I'd actually be shocked if the board sanctioned it, Alex was class in his day John is still very much a novice

You did - apologies - on my 5th nightshift now :nut

Arthur aside, the other one from my lifetime would be Gary Jacobs.

    BERT GILROY...

it's quite amazing how many people just don't know about him, his career/story is major movie material.

plus after his own career he coached at different times and at the same time, McCormack, Calderwood, McGowan & Irish bantam Caldwell. Next to Benny & Kenny, it's Bert.
