Marciano in his prime can beat all those fighters in their primes. (Ali would have been the toughest for Rocky)

I think h2h I would take Dempsey. I believe he was the fastest, both in hand and feet of the other fighters. Dempsey, was a two fisted puncher who could bust you up inside or attack you from the outside.

In his prime he was difficult to hit cleanly, but when stunned he recovered quickly. He wasn't prone to cuts. I think Dempseys weakness was a good technical boxer who could move.

Watching the Tunney fights, Dempsey doesn't appear to know how to cutoff the ring. Tunney, leads Dempsey around the ring as if holding out a carrot. I think Frazier is much the superior against a boxer. But all 3 were extremely tough fighters and ATG's.

Frazier was the best heavyweight. I just don't know how well that would translate to a schedule like this, where he'll likely take the most licks out of the three.

Pound for pound is a different story.

There's not a lot separating them in terms of outcomes, in my opinion. At a guess, I'd say:

Tunney- Frazier would track him down, where the others would flounder about some.
Louis- Dempsey would be the hardest to find; Marciano would have the most potent weapon.
Patterson- Again, I think Frazier more or less wades in and powers through.
Liston- Frazier does best in spite of having the shakier or shakiest chin. The combination of precision, pressure and output would be key.
Ali- Frazier's style, single-mindedness, and most of all, his fast pressure does him great service.
Foreman- Dempsey lasts the longest; shows Foreman the most looks.
Holmes- I like Frazier even though Larry wasn't as prone to hooks in comparison to the other boxers listed. Dempsey also has a chance with his awkward angles.
Tyson- Hard to see what they can accomplish against Mike so I'll revert to my default answer.

I will say Frazier. The relative lack of size & speed would limit Rocky against the very best.
Dempsey's limitations are against the great boxers, & endurance. He was really tired early even against Willard.

Frazier had the least fights, but not the shortest prime, & had the longest career length wise-but a lot les fights per year. His prime was '67-'71 & excellent before that, but would he be more damaged by tough fights than the others?

Possibly, yet Dempsey did not have the same wars, & his sitting on the title prevented us from knowing how he would handle many tough fights. Marciano did not have quite a 4 year prime when he was at his crouching-style perfected best.

Frazier was down & damaged more than Rocky, damaged more than Dempsey, & fought less fights.

I personally believe that this is mostly due to better competition.
Rocky's best were not bad, their age decline is exaggerated.

But a great swarmer tends to beat a great boxer.
He never fought anybody like a great slugger, nor the same average quality as Frazier.

    Tunney
I like Frazier best. I'd favor Marciano [EDIT: against Tunney] slightly .... slightly. Dempsey 50/50. I wouldn't be surprised if a prime Dempsey handles Tunney, and I wouldn't be surprised if Tunney handles Dempsey.

    Louis
Would give Marciano the best chance [EDIT: 50/50] just because of the way Louis spoke of Marciano. I'd give Frazier the least chance [EDIT: but by no means dismissing the possibility of Frazier crowding Louis and wearing him down]. Louis-Dempsey would be a thriller.

    Patterson
Not [EDIT: sure] how to rank them against Patterson. I think Dempsey has the best chance of getting a quick stoppage, but I also think Dempsey is Pattersons best chance of being around at the end. I think Frazier and Marciano stop Patterson, but it may take a bit longer for Marciano to turn things his way.

    Liston
I'd favor Liston over Frazier, though not markedly. Dempsey and Marciano about 50/50.

    Ali
They are all dangerous fights for Ali.

    Foreman
I'd give Dempsey the best chance,50/50; Frazier the least.

    Holmes
I'd favor all of them against Holmes, though just a little. I'm probably most confident of Frazier, but I think Dempsey is potentially the worst day for Larry. Marciano-Holmes very close, but I have an idea Rocky is going to sap Larry's body and get through with some big rights. btw, I usually rate Larry about #8 ATHeavy.

    Tyson
These would be some fights to see! If the fights are decided in the first 4 rounds I'll go with Mike; after the 6th round I like the other guys. I suppose I'd give Frazier the worst odds. He might suprise me, though. Dempsey a better chance than Marciano [EDIT: if it their fights should] evolve into an early round shoot-outs with Mike; Marciano a better chance of herding Tyson into the later rounds.

Dempsey, Marciano and Frazier against each other: I like Marciano the best, Frazier the least -- but no outcome is especially improbable.

it is a complete bull**** myth based on absolutely no fact, the facts says more that he had clearly the best chin of the three, he never was even hurt by 40 years old lhws , bob foster could not even hurt him, and he was not hurt and much less dropped by this type of small men under 200 pounds.

Interesting poll thus far with Rocky getting left well behind with only 3 votes which surprises me a bit.

    Edit:-

TBH, you could, in reality, discount 2 of those votes as well as RockyJim would pick him over a Nimitz Class Carrier and the other guy was probably born without all of his fingers and toes, which only leaves Tommy.
