many dudes voting pac probably just recently got into boxing. lol

jones was one of a kind. dude was one of the most dominant boxers in the history of the sport at the time of his peak performances

I'm not one of them. Been watching boxing since Leonard-Hearns I. I'm a fan of both Roy and Manny. Roy edges Manny in ability but rate Manny's resume much higher due to competition. It's hard to judge Roy's true greatness when there is a lack of quality opposition. Watching Roy in the 90s, I can definitely say he was a beast among cab driver level opposition. Just look at the Roy Jones Jr. highlights below and name some future Hall of Famers that he beat and then do the same with Pac's highlights.

Looking at the fighters they beat during that time, I SHOCKED people actually picking pac over Jones here... this forum is ridiculous...

Are you ******ed? Did you LOOK at who Jones beat to get fighter of the decade?

:huh I think you're the one who is ridiculous.

I can accept anyone picking Jones here, but the only credible reason is his abilities in his prime.

To suggest that Jones should be the winner based on who he beat is ****ing absurd. He beat two big names in the entire decade, Hopkins and Toney, and at the time Hopkins had only been the 12-round distance twice and had never fought for a world title before.

Compare that to Pacquiao, who stopped prime Barrera, became the 1st man to stop Morales then repeated the feat, beat prime Marquez, beat prime Cotto at welterweight, and dominated another raft of good fighters like Hatton at lww, Clottey and (admittedly a past-prime) De La Hoya.

I think FOTY, FOTD, and ATG should be based on a fighter's resume i.e. the quality of competition he beat. If it's based on abilities, then a fighter like Floyd can stay semi-retired and still win FOTY and FOTD.

Pac' s resume is superior than RJJ due to the number of future HOF'ers he beat so I' picked Pac on this poll.
