Who was the better fighter?

But Barrera>Morales at 126. Funny how matchups work.

I am not sure about Morales beating JMM at 126 though, to be honest. Not saying he couldn't, all of these fights are very close, but not sure I'd favor him. Marquez can fight as well, he just boxes better than the others.

 

I think Barrera is the least talented of the three. I think Morales is the best fighter and JMM is the best boxer. That is nothing against Barrera. I felt he did alot and came up big in the big moments more often than not, and it gave him the bigger name.

That would be a great one. Marquez is, I believe, an even better boxer, with slightly better handspeed. Sanchez, however, is a better pressure fighter, and perhaps a better fighter, though calmer in the ring. I'd love to have seen Sanchez vs all of these guys(Morales, Barrera, Marquez) to see how he would do. I think the one I might favor over him is Morales. Great chin, bit more height and reach, and just as good a fighter. He'd have been a great addition to their era.

 

How do you think Eusebio Pedroza would have done against Barrera, Morales, and Marquez? Or Sanchez for that matter?

 

I've always digged Morale's heart and mentality, but Barrera takes it for me. (after he dethroned Hamed)

 

I wonder if Morales could have beaten Hamed at 126 the same way Barrera did....I know everyone will say "of course". But Morales loved to brawl, and I wonder if that would have been the best course of action. Barrera could put all that aside to box when he needed to. Could Morales? And if he couldn't, could he have brawled with Hamed?

 

Pedroza is a guy I think had a decent chance to beat Sanchez. I've even heard of some favoring him. I wouldn't go that far, I would favor Sanchez. Sanchez a lot of times gets the short end of the stick, just as he gets the high end, by people who think he's overrated due to his young death. While I believe he loses to Arguello, I think he beats a guy like Pedroza.

All of the above though, you have to take with the knowledge that I haven't seen nearly as much of him as I have Sanchez. I've seen almost all of Sanchez, only a bit of Pedroza. I think enough to gauge his style though. Then again the fights I saw were when past his best against McGuigan and a bit of his fight with Lockridge.

 

Morales had better skills, but MAB had the better brains and was smart enough to be more versatile than Morales, making MAB the better fighter.

but not by a long shot, these guys are right next to each other in terms of legacy but Morales showed he was a better boxer. As whole fighter, Morales takes it by a few hairs.
