Who was the bigger underdog? Leonard that fought Hagler? Or Ali that fought Foreman?

Ali that fought foreman was given almost no chance.

it was supposed to be his last hurrah, his swan song.

I was thinking about that but didn't Leonard cameback from a career threating eye injury? Mostly everyone thought Leonard shouldn't fight Hagler cause it's big of a risk. But i wouldn't complain on your pick.

It's a good question no doubt, but the foreman who annihilated frazier and norton was being touted as invincible.

yeah the leonard win is in todays terms like mikkell kessler coming back after over two years to fight whoever won the super 6 or bute depending on which one had cleared out the division as undisputed champ,,, whereas Ali had stayed active at that point, winning his 2nd fight with Frazier not much prior to the bout,, he had a nation behind him and although Foreman was seen as unbeatable Ali was able to through psychological war games and an effective fight strategy - for me you'd have to give it to Leonard as the bigger upset - and I think most would agree, though at the time the fight was so massively hyped that through a casual sports fans eyes Ali's win sounded like the greater upset

I would have to go with Ali over Foreman because Foreman in Frazier and Norton, George had beaten the two men that defeated Ali. Ali was the bigger underdog. No one except the nation of Zaire expected him to win.

Ali was 6/1 against. Leonard was 3/1 against if I remember correctly. Foreman had sparked Frazier and Norton like bitches, both of whom had beaten Ali. Also factor in that Ali was seven years older than Foreman at 32.

The Foreman victory is streets ahead in terms of a shock although Leonard's win was sensational and the greatest comeback in the history of sport.

    I think Ali was a 3 to 1 underdog where Leonard was a 4 to 1 underdog.
Atleast thats what i found but none of this is from official sources.
