    who was a bigger fraud?

ottke- was a **** fighter who, thanks to corruption had 21 "defenses" of the wbc strap, shamelessly ducked calzaghe, never fought out of germany, and got the judges nods in fights he clearly lost

ruiz- an equally **** fighter who epitomizes the corrupt element in the sport, cheated to win, was propped up as the wba champ thanks to kings politics, is probably one of the top 5 most boring fighters ever.

Ruiz wasn't a fraud, he actually did win many fights and was tough to beat at some point. If his style is ugly to you it doesn't automatically make him a fraud. The real example of a fraud is Audley Harrison.

ruiz was the biggest piece of shiite to ever disgrace the wba (which in itself is a piece of shiite title, so what does that say about ruiz?), but ottke is by far the bigger fraud, because some of our german friends are still convinced that this clown was any good.

ruiz was tough......as long as it was a don king promoted fight where the ref allowed him to cheat and the judges gave away rounds.....

exactly, the guy was basically an american ottke. dirty fighter who had to cheat to win, given decisions by paid judges etc.. look at him now since king dropped his ass! (though king did also make him a millionaire.)

Yes Ruiz did cheat but at least he won fights and held the title for a long time, he wasn't easy to beat either. However, Fraudley defines "Fraud" clearly, the man did nothing but talk trash and get KTFO unlike Ruiz who accomplished something at least.

Ruiz actually fought good fighters and won. He beat Holyfield, Rahman, and Golota. Ruiz is not fraud he just makes boring fights similiar to Chris Bryd, when people started complaining about Bryds style which he ended up changing in fights against Mccline, Golota, and Wlad which ended badly.

Ottke was worse, if only because he didn't have the common decency to be knocked out in 19 seconds and give us a moment of catharsis. It should be noted that Ottke faked low blows, used his head, repeatedly turned away from punches in order to make them kidney shots, rabbit punched; and in general fouled enough to at least be comparable in that respect to Ruiz.

Ottke also relied on some of the worst refereeing ever done. It was Robin Reid, for instance, who was warned for (get this)... Hitting Ottke in the face.

Ottke's record is grossly padded, but at least he could fight a bit. And let's not forget, he starched the annoying Mundine! :happy

Ruiz is the DEFINTION of a FRAUD - a talentless fighter who would never have come close to winning a fight at the world class level if it wasn't for Don King. He is the POSTER BOY for boxing corruption! :nod

    Ottke was not a fraud.

He was an alright fighter with a boring style who had a damn good management team.
Ottke made millions from fighting mostly fringe contenders and middlweights, with the a few good fighter sprinkled in there.

In reality he only had 2 or 3 dubious decisions, which is still to much but its get so overblown all this **** about him getting all these gifts.
Anyone who uses the Mitchell fight as evidence of Ottke's lucky reign is an idiot who hasnt seen the fight. The Reid fight was a disgrace, the Larsen fight he lost, the first Brewer fight was pretty close he probably lost but he came back to clearly edge the rematch.
He dodged Calzaghe but he knew he would probably lose so he steered clear. Im not a fan and I depise the kind of attitude he had to fighting and chasing big fights. But put yourself in Ottke's shoes, he didnt need the big fights, he didnt need to be in slugfests,

Its a bit of a culture thing, A lot of North Americans, Englishman and Australians etc cant understand why someone who fights so defensive can win all the time. Whether we like to admit it or not we do give fighters credit for moving forward and missing.
Technically Ottke was fufilling the criteria to win rounds, its just he was only just doing it most of the time and the Germans were cool with that and loved him for it.
