In 1985 when I was 10, domestically I became a Bruno fan when he beat Anders Eklund for the European heavyweight title and on the world scene it was the Marvelous one when he beat Hearns in the WAR
I always liked boxing, but it wasn't til around 2004 when I really started watching, and Miguel Cotto was my dude in those days. Back when he was rocking that jew 'fro.
Loved watching Chris Finnegan/Minter/Tony Sibson/SRL/Ali When younger these were some of my fav boxers.
I could only see limited boxing when I became interested in it, so I only knew a limited amount of boxers - but what I had seen Muhammad Ali stood out, probably partly from the hype. Even knowing so little about boxing at the time, and being quite young (10, max?) I loved his banter and how clever he was in the ring... it made boxing quite exciting to watch. I wanted to like Mike Tyson, there was so much hype around him and was very excited to see him but the first fight of his I watched was him fighting Buster Douglas which was mega awkward.
