I forgot to mention trinidad! It was hard not to be mesmerized by his brutal path of destruction. I remember thinking he was invincible....until I watched the de la hoya fight a few years prior. Regardless, I still really revere and respect what he did for boxing.
Though I had seen Dick Tiger, Emile Griffith, Frazier and Ali, the first boxer I was a fan of was Jerry Quarry.
Juan Manuel Márquez. I knew about Pac, Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield, JCC, all these guys by name but never really watched their fights, or boxing in general. Actually, I really wanted to get in shape but didn’t want to get too bulky and wasn’t really into weight training. I thought that boxers were in really good shape and lean (apart from the bigger weight classes) and looked up boxing training. I don’t remember what came up but remember seeing a JMM training montage/video and from then on, I was hooked. (I realized I wrote a long speech that could’ve been answered in a few words lol But yeah, JMM was my first favorite boxer)
