Mayweather would have been elite in any era of boxing. He may, and that's a big may have lost 1 or 2. A fighter of Mayweather's defensive capabilities gets knocked out, ever. Well maybe if he fights until he's 50

Mayweather hands down, he beat everybody that was put in front of him. He is an all around better fighter than Hearns. Hearns should never have lost to Leonard and he shouldn't have let Hagler bait him into that firefight.

Everyone put in front of him was hand picked he hasn't been an underdog since Corrales it's not that impressive when you don't face guys in their prime or guys who couldn't test you ..Hearns is ten times the fighter Floyd is ..Floyd would have never lasted in Hearns era !

Hagler was a full blown Middleweight. Might as well say Hagler would have lost to Tyson..

You forgot to mention the fact Mayweather has had a boxing commission & all its officials, plus the testing agency USADA backing him & protecting his bogus 0 for years. Tommy nor any other boxer had that unbeatable advantage back then Hearns >>>>>>>>>>> Mayweather:hi:

That's only your opinion and pure speculation. I disagree. Hearns hit harder and that's about it. Who was he gonna be an underdog to? He is best/ Plus he got old just like everybody else and just because he may not have fought who you think he should have fought don't mean jack. Hearns was a stupid fighter because he let fighters take him out of his game and for that alone he falls behind Mayweather. Mayweather would have never lost the first fight to Duran and Leonard won the second because he boxed and didn't engage in a frivolous manner. The only reason Floyd would have problems with Leonard or Hearns is because of size. They were big welters and that is why it was no problem for them to move up. If Floyd was in that era, he may have never went past 140. By the way, Leonard never fought Aaron Pryor and Pryor called him out. I don't hold that against him because it didn't make or break him.

His knockout win over Duran is better than anything Mayweather has done .This isn't even including his wins over Benitez and Cuevas ..

And any version of Duran would whoop Floyd ..You think this is Maidana or Canelo he'd be running from ?

And funny you call him stupid for letting fighters take him out his game but you ever once stop to think who those fighters were ?this wasn't the Gatti,Ortiz,Gurrero and The Berto's of the time now ..

    You asked the wrong question.

    Greater Fighter - Hearns
    Greater Boxer - Mayweather

Ok so Hearns knocked out Duran, how does that translate into him being greater overall than Floyd? Thats one fight one win...Floyd still has the more impressive career and fight game.

Check this out, That wasn't no big win over Duran, He was supposed to beat Duran. He had all the advantages. He was six one with an 80 inch reach and hit like a mack truck. He also could box. Duran was five feet and seven inches with a 66 inch reach. He was doomed from the start. The fact is, you can't say what Mayweather would or would not have done to Roberto because he was not of that era but what you can say is that he beat the best of his era and that's something that Hearns didn't do.

Yeah, I think that he was stupid because when Leonard had him buzzed real bad, he boxed his way back into contention and as soon as his head cleared he went back to fighting the way he did before he got clocked. You stay with the game that's winning you the fight. He jumped in there and went at Hagler like a wild dog. After the first round he should have known that needed to do something different but he went back in with the same game plan and got his ass knocked out. It's not about who he was fighting because he was an elite fighter himself and he should have been thinking like one. Mayweather wouldn't have been that foolish, and contrary to popular belief, Mayweather can and does fight. Any body that have watched Mayweather knows that he is a physically and mentally balanced warrior. The evolution of Mayweather is the evolution of a winner. I don't know who would win a fight between Hearns and Mayweather but that don't change the fact that Mayweather is an all around better fighter and boxer than Hearns.
