Read the title I said middleweight. For me Golovkin is now at a point where I would say he is surpassing Hopkins middleweight achievements.

I'm not saying p4p because some of Hopkins best achievements came at light heavyweight and certainly his best wins/results but at middleweight for Golovkin to have now become unified champion again puts him a little bit above Hopkins for me.

One guy was the first to unified all 4 belts and legitimized the WBO title, beat some of the best fighters in history and also moved up and dominated further showing how overall great of a fighter he is.

the other biggest achievement is losing to the only elite opponent he ever faced, a fake defense record of an JV title, and knocking out a long string of bums while never taking any type of risk ever.
    Seems kinda simple.

This is made up nonsense. Belt was around since 89 and held by many greats before Hopkins.

    Wow. Thread really surprised me.

I thought it was consensus Hopkins was a top 5 MW.

Why? Hopkins biggest wins are against Oscar and Tito. Guys who started at lower weights. He also fought the same two guys 5 times. What 2 guys would be acceptable for Golovkin to fight 5 times and which 2 former lower weight champions would be acceptable for Golovkin to beat? As it is he gets flak for fighting Brook.

Oscar and Tito as it was were far greater wins than anything Golovkin has done.

Possibly due to circumstance but I would rate Hopkins higher due to some of his wins

    K Holmes
    W Joppy
    H Eastman
    G Johnson

There are several others I could include

There are several wins Hopkins has that I think could be argued as greater than some of Golovkins wins

No doubt Golovkin has beaten some good MWs like Jacobs, Geale,

I think had Golovkin had have got some other fights like undefeated Quillim, S Martinez, Pirog, Sturm, Pavlik for example, he would be rated higher but for whatever reasons they didn't happen

S Martinez had less title fights but did get some big wins with Pavlik, Williams, undefeated Murray, undefeated Barker, undefeated Chavez, undefeated Dzinziruk

Hardly beaten up but yeah I thought he lost.

Same Oscar who then went to be competitve with Hopkins 3 months later.
