Who was the greater middleweight Golovkin or Hopkins?

I said name truly great fighters they beat. Hopkins who I don’t particularly like either as a man or fighter has the better resume. He beat the likes of Oscar De La Hoya, my number one Felix “El Tito” Trinidad the pride of Puerto Rico, Holmes, Joppy, Winky Wright, Eastman and numerous others. Sorry the resumes don’t compare. Now I know the die hard fans of Lil G or lower case g want to anoint him with divine status but sorry it does not quite work like that.

 

I understand. DLH are Tito are big name HOF fighters, but they were not true MW's.

 

Hopkins however I’d back GGG to beat him

Whilst I agree with this
Trinidad and De La Hoya were smaller fighters coming up in weight when Hopkins beat them, but Hopkins did beat Trinidad before he retired and at that time (before 2 year out of the ring) Trinidad only had 3 MW fights but other than losing to Hopkins beat Joppy before who was a MW champ who was 9-1 in MW title fights and Cherifi, who was a former MW champ.
In effect Trinidad did beat 2 decent world class MWs sandwiched between the Hopkins loss

Oscar had beaten Sturm (close debatable fight) who was an undefeated MW champ and who won WBO, WBA and IBF MW titles as well as becoming a SMW champion in his career.

I dont think the De La Hoya win is as good a MW win as some of Hopkins other MW wins

Like at all. Trinidad is a 154 and Oscar a 147. Also Oscar in a lot of peoples eyes is 0-2 at MW.

Winky Wright was washed up and also a 154 fighter. Why do you just go off name value instead of looking at the fighters

 

Tito knocked out quality middleweights like Joppy in fact he annihilated him so that argument does not work . Tito was the best fighter in the world my hero and hate to say it but Hopkins scientifically destroyed him that night and Old Bouie Fisher from the Mid West and Brother Rahman outdid the great trainer Papa Don Felix Trinidad that night. Let’s call a spade a spade.

 

Winky moved up in weight. When you move to Middleweight you are a Middleweight. It’s like saying John the Beast Mugabi or Canelo are not Middleweights because of all their fights at 154 pounds.

 

The guys I mention are truly great fighters generational type of fighters.
